2. General safety instructions and definitions

2.1 Explanation of symbols


These safety instructions are indicated with special symbols:

Caution: Danger of injury! This symbol points to the possibility of endangering people.

Attention: General danger! This symbol indicates an operation that could cause a damage to
the sliding door or the operating controls.

Caution: Direct or indirect danger for life and health caused by electrical energy. Special work
only for electricians.

Attention: Special indication to regulation on emergency escape doors.

Note: This symbol indicates important instructions..

This symbol calls on for operation.

2.2 Instructions
Please observe all national guidelines and standards on automatic sliding doors.

The intended use includes the operating and commissioning conditions instructed by the
manufacturer.

Commissioning, maintenance and servicing should only be carried out by specialised personnel that
has been authorised by the manufacturer or by trained people who are aware of any possible danger
that may occur.
The operating service and maintenance conditions specified by the manufacturer are to be observed.

The manufacturer is exempted from any liability for damages caused by unauthorised alterations of
the system.
After professional installation the sliding doors are only to be used for sliding operations. Any other
use is not allowed and excludes the liability of the manufacturer.

The manufacturer has to be informed if constructional alterations (floor, conditions for air current
etc.) at the sliding door area influencing the function of the construction.

2.2.1 Emergency escape doors

Attention! For emergency escape doors respect national laws and normatives!

Please observe all safety instructions and warnings.

4. Installation

4.1 Special safety instructions


Before starting installation, please read all the installation instructions.

4.2 Electrical connections


For mounting the drive there must be earth contact connection on building site.

If there is no earth contact connection, the connection must be secured in accordance with national
directives against accidental switching on. The installation has only be carried out by specialised
personnel.

During working on the construction make sure that the power supply is disconnected.

It must be protected against mistaken switch-on. The cut-off of the construction must be inspected.

If there is any damage at the main connection the power plug must be disconnected. Specialists
must change the main connection.

Optional the construction is equipped with a lead gel battery. Please note that the battery is not
shorted.

4.4 Installation preparation

door (see page 10).

The product described conforms to the regulations according to the following European guidelines:

2006/95/EC Low Voltage Directive.


Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2006 on the harmonisation
of the laws of Member States with relating to electrical equipment designed for use within certain
voltage limits.

2004/108/EC EMC-Directive
Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 2004 on the approximation
of the laws of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility and repealing Directive
89/336/EEC.

GU Automatic manufactured and commissioned the sliding door according to the guidelines.
Subsequent changes and alterations of the system should only be carried out by specialist personnel
with authorization of GU Automatic.
