Title of Lesson: Helping Thing 1 and Thing 2 to learn composite and prime numbers.

1. Students will learn counting numbers from 0 to 20.

2. Students will learn to recognized weather the number is a prime or not.

3. Students will learn to multiply by skipping numbers from 0 to 20.

Objective/Purpose: The Purpose of this lesson is to prepare students to compose

numbers as well as to be able to identify weather is a prime number or a composite

number.

Introduce Lesson:

Let’s begin the lesson by counting from 1 to 20.

After counting let’s talk about by asking them what comes before 20 and after 20.

Lest ask the student if anyone know what a Prime number is and what is a Composite

number.

Give a definition:

Prime number = is a number that can be break in half (divisible) by 1 and itself. The

numbers are 2,3,5,7,11,13,17 and 19.

Composite number = A composite number is a number that can be made by multiplying

another number. 6 can be made by 2x3. This numbers are 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 14.

The students are familiar with multiplying one-digit number by another number. They

learn how to multiply 1 to 12 with the number one. In where it is the first number in the

multiplication chart. They also know the second table of the multiplication chart 2.

Example: (If you want me to teach using examples you need to provide me the

examples.)

Each student has a math journal in were in that journal they keep everything we done in

class.

They will write the examples that I’m providing with numbers that we have already

work.

1. 12 = 1x 12

2. 12 = 2 x 6

3. 12 = 3 x 4

4. 8 = 2 x 4

5. 6 = 2 x 3

Another example for some of the students that are visual is a video about composite and

prime numbers.

The students can also work on this paper in where they will color the circle if is a
composite or a prime. They don’t have to finish but, they can start and stop at 20.

worksheet about multiplication about the 2nd table. In where is about skipping

number and it will help them understand what a composite is and a prime after

they finish they can try one of the worksheet that I did for them and you will find

in the next page.
