Sixth Form Entry

There are four possible Pathways to choose from:

• Pathway One - Two CTEC/BTEC Level 3 subjects


• Pathway Two – A combination of CTEC/BTEC Level 3 subjects and
A-Level Subjects
• Pathway Three – Three A-Level Subjects
• Pathway Four – Four A-Level Subjects (This will be decided on a
case by case basis and you must achieve an average GCSE point
score of 7 or above)

What are our entry requirements?


To be admitted onto a course of study you must:
• Attend a course placement interview to ensure you choose the
right subjects.
• Follow a full time course of study which includes our enrichment
programme.
• Meet the GCSE/BTEC requirements of each of the subjects you
wish to study
CTEC: 5 GCSE grades at 9 to 3 including a 3 in Maths and English
ALEVEL: 5 GCSE grades at 9 to 4 with subject specific
requirements in Maths and English
(Higher pass grades are required in English, Maths, Physics and
Economics)
Please Note: If a GCSE subject is examined through controlled
assessment and examinations then a minimum of a 4 Grade must
be achieved in each of the written units.

If you have not achieved a minimum of a 4 in English Language and/


or Mathematics you MUST follow a GCSE resit course.

Where possible we will negotiate a bespoke programme for those


students who don’t meet this criteria

To carry a subject through from Lower Sixth to Upper Sixth, you must
achieve either a minimum of an A - E pass grade at AS or pass the
end of year examination.

GCSE Point Score Explained with a grade
9 = Above an A*
GCSE Point Score is the average score you gain across your 8 = A*
GCSEs. Each GCSE grade is worth a set amount and when added 7=A
together and divided by the total number of GCSEs you have 6=B
taken it gives the average of your GCSE performance. BTEC’s and 5=C
other qualifications do not count in GCSE point score. 4=D

1 has a GCSE average point score of 4.87. This means they are able to
choose Pathways one, two or three.
