AUGURA (Colombia Banana Producer Association)

Banana agroindustry is a fundamental part of the country's economic and social development.
Our commitment with Colombia has led us to be a business example, for which we have reached
the highest standards not only in the activity of our business, but also in environmental, labor
and social responsibility terms.

About us

A nonprofit trade association created in 1963. We represent in the presence of public and
private entities, national and foreign, the interests of the Colombian banana industry, which
brings together the international producers and commercializers of the regions of Urabá,
Magdalena and La Guajira.

Our objectives

- Represent the banana producers and their commecializers in the presence of official organisms
and national and international entities

-Defend banana production

-Investigate and promote of technology transference

-Participate actively in the development of Urabá, Magdalena and La Guajira

-Project the regions of Urabá, Magdalena and La Guajira, its basic products and watch over
welfare of its people.

Banana activity

-We generate 35.000 direct and 100.000 indirect jobs.

-We annually export around 94 million boxes of bananas, equivalent to 1.705.160.000 tonnes.
Our affiliates represent 74% of the exports.

-We generate approximately US$ 850 million in annual incomes for the national economy.

CENIBANANO (BANANA RESEARCH CENTER)

Our banana research center, has as objective to carry out research and technological
development in strategic lines to ensure the sustainability of banana production in Colombia as:
Fitoprotection, Physiology and Nutrition, Soils and Precision Agriculture, seeking innovation in
efficient production processes , economically sustainable, clean and that contribute to the
protection of the environment, so that they allow the Colombian banana sector to build
competitive advantages in front of other producing countries and banana exporters.

Social Responsibility

In AUGURA, we are committed with the communities and regions where we work, we advance
in joint work with the Social Foundations of the sector and Corporations of Fair Trade, a social
policy translated into programs of housing, health, education, recreation and sport, basic
sanitation, construction of infrastructure and employment.

This policy applied by the Foundations of the companies and AUGURA, has allowed for:

 15.000 housing solutions (Construct, improvement and legalization)


 8.000 people in health care (Nutrition, brigades, disabilities)
 14.000 people deal with recreation, sports and culture
 Social investment: $190.849.325.109 own resources, $224.452.036.175 managed, joint
housing funds – SINTRAINAGRO (Agroindustry Workers Union) $34.856.159.560. Total
investment $450.157.520.844.

As an activity of corporate social responsibility and specifically as a commitment to the


environment, we executed in Uraba Superclean Project of the main tributaries of the Leon river
basin and its collector pipes, with the aim of contributing to the flood control of the main urban
centers of the banana axis.

Vertical Integration

We manage the system of river and maritime transport and basic infrastructure for the loading
and storage of the fruit in an integral manner. Infraestructures of overseas commercialize for
direct distribution in the bound countries.

Aerial spraying, box, seals and plastic factories, warehouses for inputs and deposits, piers,
terminal containers and the integral management of river and maritime transport, among
others.

Work Relationships

Periodically, representatives of our banana producers and union organizations meet to set up
the rights, minimum guarantees and profits that will be in effect labor relations between the
Company and workers.

The parties recognize the need to respect the Constitution, the law and the international
Conventions of the ILO (International Labour Organization) ratified by the national legislation
and come to permanently to the dialogue and the agreement as a mechanism of solution of
conflicts and to seek the improvement of the quality of life of the workers and their families.
