Abstract
In today’s world, Internet of Things (IOT) Technique are being utilized in various regions of
research for checking, gathering and investigating information from remote areas. Drinking
water is a valuable product for every single individual as drinking water utilities confront a
considerable measure of new difficulties progressively task. These difficulties start in light of
restricted water assets, developing populace, maturing foundation and so on in this way there
is a requirement for better procedures to screen the water quality. Keeping in mind the end
goal to guarantee the protected supply of drinking water the quality should be checked
continuously. The parameters such as turbidity, PH, of the water can be measured. The
measured values from the sensors can be processed by the core controller. The Ardurino can
be used as a core controller. Finally, the sensor data can be viewed on internet using cloud
computing.

Introduction
The pollution in water is expanding step by step, and numerous analysts and researchers are
trying to take care of the issue by checking and keeping up the nature of water. This paper
centers mostly on the quality checking of water. The point of the paper is to test the water
quality with the goal that it will be n continuous to protect human life from the dirtied water.

Breaking down the condition and checking whether the water is positive for the living
creatures and plants is the major target. There are various types of the accessible water
quality estimating gadget available, running from diffident to costly ones and house to
mechanical applications.

Water quality sensor only measure the pH of water. If all the parameters are available in the
device, then that device is not affordable for common people. Since it is not available on the
market, this project includes two required parameters for checking the quality of water in
affordable cost. This paper will check the value of pH and Turbidity.

In any case, observing water quality in flow framework is the most imperative on the grounds
that the refined water streams to the conveyance framework that is straightforwardly
associated with the human drinking water taps. Utilizing customary methodologies of
checking water quality in the water dissemination framework are not protected. Chlorinating
in dissemination framework is generally used to ensure microorganisms. Be that as it may,
drinking excessively chlorinated water prompts Cancer and different ailments. Along these
lines, chlorine is considered as another contaminant and in addition pathogen and infections.
Besides, there is no single instrument that can distinguish all the conceivable water
parameters, for example, pH, turbidity, chlorine.
Literature Review
Nikhil Kedia entitled “Water Quality Monitoring for Rural Areas-A Sensor Cloud Based
Economical Project.” Published in 2015 1st International Conference on Next Generation
Computing Technologies (NGCT-2015) Dehradun, India. This paper highlights theentire
water quality monitoring methods, sensors, embedded design, and information dissipation
procedure, role of government, network operator and villagers in ensuring proper information
dissipation. It also explores the Sensor Cloud domain. While automatically improving the
water quality is not feasible at this point, efficient use of technology and economic practices
can help improve water quality and awareness among people.[1]

Jayti Bhatt,Jignesh Patoliya entitled “Real Time Water Quality Monitoring System”.This
paper describes to ensure the safe supply of drinking water the quality should be monitored in
real time for that purpose new approach IOT (Internet of Things) based water quality
monitoring has been proposed. In this paper, we present the design of IOT based water
quality monitoring system that monitor the quality of water in real time. This system consists
some sensors which measure the water quality parameter such as pH, turbidity, conductivity,
dissolved oxygen, temperature. The measured values from the sensors are processed by
microcontroller and this processed values are transmitted remotely to the core controller that
is raspberry pi using Zigbee protocol. Finally, sensors data can view on internet browser
application using cloud computing.[2]
Proposed System
The proposed method is used to overcome the drawbacks present in existing method. Here
we are using Raspberry pi as core controller and various sensors to monitor the water Quality.
The block diagram of our system is shown in Figure Arduino OS run on the Arduino to
manage various types of equipment including sensors and so on. We are connecting different
sensors Arduino to monitor the conditions of water. The Arduino will access the data from
different sensors and then processes the data. The sensor data can be viewed on the cloud
using Application.

pH sensor
pH is a sensor which detects pH value of water . This sensor is shown in Figure 3. The term
“pH” set off from Latin and is an acronym for “potential hydrogenii” or “the power of
hydrogen”. pH is the hydrogen-ion concentration in water-based solutions, which indicates
the acidity and alkalinity in the solution.
The pH scale is a logarithmic scale whose range is from 0-14 with a neutral point being 7.
Values above 7 indicate a basic or alkaline solution and values below 7 would indicate an
acidic solution. The normal range of pH is 6 to 8.5.

Turbidity sensor
Turbidity has indicated the degree at which the water loses its transparency. It is considered
as a good measure of the quality of water.
Methodologies
System Architecture The overall system presented in this study is subdivided into of
three layers of the system architecture. The physical layer, service layer and presentation
layer.

Physical Layer. Physical layer comprises of sensor hubs and correspondence advancements.
At this layer the information is gathered and sent to the administration layer.

Service Layer. The service layer plays an important role in the system architecture. The
application/business logic is implemented here. It also stores collected data for future use.
This layer also provides various tools for data analytics.

Presentation Layer. The most upper layer is the presentation layer which visualizes the
information to the user and allows user to interact with the system.

Conclusion
Based on a study of existing water quality monitoring system and scenario of water we can
say that proposed system is more suitable to monitor water quality parameters in real time.
The proposed system introduces wireless sensor networking using several sensors to measure
water quality, microcontroller and IOT module which make sensor network simple, low cost
and more efficiently. Furthermore, to monitor data from all over the word IOT environment is
provided using Ardunio for creating gateway and also, cloud computing technology is used to
monitor data on the internet. Moreover, to make system user-friendly web browser
application is there. Therefore, the system will be low cost, faster, more efficient, real time
and user friendly. Thus, we can fulfill aim and objective of the proposed system.
