Professional Development Plan
Quincy Public Schools
2018-2019
Goals:

 During the 2018-19 school year, ELA and reading teachers will continue to implement HMH
Collections Print and Digital resources, aligning pacing guides and lessons to the revised ELA and
Literacy Framework standards.
 During the 2018-19 school year, ELA and reading teachers will continue to implement close reading
and purposeful annotation strategies into whole-group and small-group instruction in order to
improve students’ ability to independently and proficiently read and comprehend complex literary
and informational texts.
 During the 2018-19 school year, ELA and reading teachers will begin to develop common writing
assessments in order to strengthen students’ ability to write for a range of tasks, purposes and
audiences.

Focus Areas: Aligning HMH Collections resources to whole-group lessons and small-group stations, sharing
close reading and purposeful annotation strategies and developing summer PD and summer reading lists.

Focus Area: Common Writing Assessments
To prepare students for writing across the curriculum for a range of tasks, purposes and audiences, over an
extended period of time teachers will develop and administer common writing assessments. Teachers will
monitor student progress and create targeted skill groups using data from these assessments.
