➢ Columns Effective Length Ratio – Define Minimum & Maximum Value to Control
&Walls Effective Length Ratio.

In this version of RCDC, user will have a choice to control the Effective Length Ratio. It goes as
follows:

User has an option to set a Minimum & a Maximum value in the given box.
These values set will be applicable to all the columns & walls present in the said
structure.
The value of Effective Length Ratio below the provided Minimum value will be bought
to the provided minimum value.
The value of Effective Length Ratio, if greater than Maximum value will be bought
down to the provided Maximum value.
The value of Effective Length Ratio, is in between the Minimum and Maximum values,
the calculated value will be used in further calculations.
Effective Length Factor which is greater than 2.0 indicates a theoretically unstable
condition. So, for all practical purposes, the max Effective Length Factor is allowed to
be 5 (on higher side) in this release.

➢ General Design with Lower Steel Grade in EURO & ACI code.

This feature is an enhancement for existing Reinforcement grade of minimum 410MPa (60ksi).
With this feature, user can set the Reinforcement grade to as low as 200MPa (30ksi).
This can be done by manually entering the steel grade value as shown in the below snippet.
➢ Columns & Walls PM Curve – Interaction Based

In this version of RCDC, user will have following options to design column.

Resultant Moment (Combined Action)

This is the existing method of design of column which is available in earlier version. While
generating P-M curve the moment capacity has been worked out for resultant moment for a
given NA angle and location. The M-capacity is checked against M-resultant. Refer below
sketch.

Interaction principle (Discrete Action)

This is the new option of design of column provided in RCDC. While generating P-M curve the
moment capacity has been worked out for bending about local axes simultaneously for a
given NA angle and location. Now moment along each direction and its capacity is checked
simultaneously instead of M-resultant. Thus user can check the capacity along individual axes.
Refer below sketch.
