The Sky2
Large area light fittings have become popular with architects and
designers for their crisp clean looks and low glare ambient light.
However, the size required is often larger than possible with rigid
sheet materials so stretched fabrics or membranes are employed.
Sky2 is ideal for any space where a high light level is required with low
glare. Applications have been wide – offices, training rooms, meeting
rooms, video-conferencing, call centres, public space, control rooms,
clinical treatment areas, shops and even a chapel.
The below figures are approximate, suitable as a rough guide for budget costing.

Dimmable FX (RGB)
Dimming is available as an option on any Sky2 unit with The FX is a 12 lamp version with four red, green and

Mounting
Surface
The surface product is manufactured from a steel body; polyester powder
coated in white (RAL 9010) together with the stretched membrane within a
door made from steel and aluminium. The surface lumianire is usually fixed
through the back of the body into the soffit or an appropriate surface.
Recessed
The dimensions of the recessed version are slightly smaller than that of the
surface so that it will fit into an exposed T-grid ceiling as well as plasterboard.
In other respects the products are very similar. It should be remembered that
if this fitting is to be lifted and tilted into position within the ceiling there will
need to be sufficient unobstructed void depth (around 500mm) to perform
this operation. The recessed version is suited to arrays of fittings, which are
particularly effective in suitably supported grid ceilings.
Suspended
The suspended version is the same as the surface with the addition of a wire
suspension kit. In past projects the Sky2 has been mounted up to 5m below
a soffit and cross suspended to brace against wind induced movement. The
Sky2 can have up to 12 lamps and in some circumstances this allows for a
high light output sufficient to compare with metal halide, but with much less
glare. The Sky2 has been used high in call centres, retail space and even
some factory areas, where low glare and high power were the main factors.

Whilst all Sky2 models can be supplied with either DSI, Analogue 1-10V, DALI
or switch dimming electronics, to be compatible with most proprietary control
systems, they can also be supplied pre-packaged with one of two dedicated
controls systems built-in. Both Clearvision’s control systems are supplied with
high frequency electronic control gear featuring intelligent electrode preheat-
ing. This enables rapid dynamic operations to be performed without adversely
affecting lamp life.

Emergency
Emergency
Emergency versions of Clearvision luminaires come in several forms. The
standard configuration is for a 3 hour maintained operation. Both Nickel
Cadmium (NiCad) and Nickel Metal Hydrite (NiMH) batteries are supplied
depending on lamp compatibility. Some fixed output formats are available
with combined inverter/ballasts, but dimmable emergency products are
always supplied with separate ballasts and inverters.
Dimming
Sky products are available with four main dimming protocols. Switch
dimming is the most cost-effective dimming option for manual dimming of
single rooms. DSI digital (Tridonic) offers digital functions for more advanced
requirements. Analogue (1-10V) dimming is supplied to offer compatibility
with many of the popular control systems. The DALI protocol is provided
for high functionality systems, where reporting, flexibility (soft wiring) and
individual addressing are project requirements.
