E3 - Why Is It Important
4. Guest speaker
E2 - ask questions, share voices as to make a difference at their school and communities.
5. Exhibition Materials
E1 - use posters
So, the purpose of my talk today is to help you choose one of the two topics by describing
details of the themes given. Let's look at the first theme, " Looking After Our Planet".
Secondly, we must give better understanding about taking care of our planet to individuals,
businesses, public sector, voluntary and community groups. If many people practice small
"ways" to decrease the environmental impact, then we have accomplished a great deed.
What is Reduce Waste? it means using natural resources wisely, and using less than
usual in order avoid waste.
Reuse - You can "reuse" materials in their original form instead of throwing them
away, or pass those materials on to others who could use them too ,
Recycle - it is very simple. Don't throw away anything that can be recycled! Recycling
extracts valuable materials from items that might otherwise be considered trash and turns
them into new products.
Why Is It Important? When people throw items away, they send them to landfills
where it may take centuries or longer to break down completely. Harmful chemicals and
gasses are released from rubbish in landfill sites. Reduce, Reuse and Recycling help
to reduce the pollution caused by waste.
Teachers and friends,
The campaign for this theme will last for three days with educational activities to involve
students in the protection of the environment. Therefore, helps students understand how
their decisions and actions affect the environment, builds knowledge and skills necessary to
address complex environmental issues. It will also promotes active learning, citizenship,
and student leadership.
Representatives from the local council will be invited as quest speakers, that is from The Alor
Setar City Council (MBAS). Students will also be able to ask questions and share their voice
as to make a difference at their school and in their communities.
For exhibition, we can use posters and waste separation bins. Posters are an easy and cost-
effective way to communicate. Paper, plastic and general waste is collected in separate
bins. There are three types of recycling bins and each colours represent different uses.
Blue bin, for paper. All coloured and non-coloured paper such as newspapers, magazines,
books, catalogue sheets, brochures, calendars, cars, envelopes, and cardboard boxes.
Brown bin, for glass. All coloured and non-coloured glass such as soft drink bottles, food
containers, vitamin bottles, and cosmetic bottles.
Orange bin, for aluminium tins, steel tins, and plastic. All kinds of aluminium and steel tins such as
soft drink tins and food product tins.
"Protecting Our Wildlife"
E1 - conservation organization
E2 - issues covered
8. Four days
9. Guest speaker
11. The more important theme is " Looking After Our Planet".
Now, let me talk about the second theme, that is "Protecting Our Wildlife.
Wildlife is important for its beauty, economic, scientific and survival value. The word
‘protecting’ means to keep something safe. Protecting Our Wildlife is the way of preserving
of animals or the plants which are endangered. We cannot get species back once they have
gone extinct. Wildlife plays an important role in balancing the environment, maintains the
food chain and provides stability to different natural processes of nature. It can be found in
all ecosystems, desert, rainforests, plains and other areas,
You might think that as an individual you are unable to really make a difference to
help endangered species, but that is not true. Join a wildlife conservation organization, for
example:
Their work covers issues of the natural environment, working with local communities to
protect the environment, training and supporting other conservation organisations in
Malaysia
The campaign for this theme will last for four days which include wildlife and nature
activities for students such as making simple crafts from nature, and outdoor activities.
These encourage learning about wildlife, their habitats and how human interference can
affect the natural cycle of things.
A spokeperson from the Malaysian Nature Society will be invited to give a talk and tips in
protecting the wildlife. Posters, videos and globe will be use to support the exhibition.
The more important theme is to me is " Looking After Our Planet". Why? Becaues EARTH
IS OUR HOME. It’s where we live, so we better take care of it. For sure we could be better person if
we help with small things for our home, this planet the only that we have now.
Furthermore, a clean environmnet is essential for healthy living. The more you don’t care about our
environment, the more it will become polluted with contaminants and toxins that have a harmful
impact on our health. Air pollution can cause respiratory diseases and cancer, among other problems
and diseases. Water pollution can lead to typhoid, diarrheal diseases and other sickness.
Hopefully, from this awareness campaign people will learn to take care of themselves and
their environment from an early age, thus helping to make our society more responsible
and sustainable in the future.
Respectful teachers and friends,
In a nutshell, even after understanding the need and importance of protecting the wildlife
and saving the planet, if we don’t do our bit towards the same then it will be a big mistake
on our part. We should take it as our responsibility to create awareness regarding this and
do whatever we can to save the environment. Thank you.
