TITLE: PIAGETIAN TASK

CONCRETE OPERATIONAL: CONSERVATION TASK

SUBJECT: CHRISTIAN T. ISIDRO

AGE: 9 YEARS OLD

OBSERVATION:
The Piagetian task was conducted at exactly 6:15 pm, December 31, 2014. The task that was used was
the conservation task wherein a child already has the ability to compare measurement in terms of
volumes. The material used were, two broad, short plastic container, a narrow, tall glass and water. The
two short container were filled with exact amounts of water and was showed at the subject. The subject
then said both glasses were of the same volumes of water and the level of the water on both containers
were equal. The conductor then transferred the water of the one short glass to the tall but narrow glass,
making the water level on the short and tall glasses different. The conductor let the subject observed
the new set of containers placed before him. The conductor asked if there was any changes on the two
containers, whether either has different volumes of water, if there is, the subject should tell her. The
subject then answered no, since, in his words, the water was just transferred from the short to the tall
glass, which has equal volume on the remaining short container which was compared to the transferred
tall glass.

The conductor therefore concluded that the nine year old subject has established the conservation task
since he could already distinguished and compare measurements of volumes.
