Lesson idea implementation:

The students will pick three of the important American Symbols we have discussed throughout the week to
focus on. I will show them the Popplet I have already created so they can get a better understanding on what
exactly to do. The students are responsible to tell three interesting facts about each symbol they choose.
The students will have one week to complete their Popplet presentation. They will present their project at
the end of the week. I will assess the student by the completion and the information they provided by being
correct or incorrect. I will end this lesson by reviewing the American symbols we have discussed and making
sure every student is aware and understands the importance of these symbols through their Popplet
presentation.

Reflective Practice:
The students will be able to discuss the American symbols they have learned and tell the importance of
each symbol. They will learn that each symbol has a different significance in our country. They will show they
know this material through the Popplet presentation. Students will extend their learning on American
symbols by creating another Popplet the following week using all of the symbols learned about rather than
just three. Because they have to present their Popplet to the class and all of the students will be picking
different symbols to create their first Popplet, their classmates can get ideas through their other classmates
presentations to create their final project on all nine of the American symbols and their importance. This will
improve their engagement as well as their knowledge retention.
