1. A wheel turning with angular speed of 45 rev s-1 is brought to rest with a constant
acceleration. It turns 45 rev before it stops.
a) What is its angular acceleration? (Ans: -141.37 rad s-2)
b) What time elapses before it stops? (Ans: 2 s)
2. A mass of 2.5 kg moves in a circle with a radius of 15.0 cm at a constant angular velocity
5.0 rads-1
a) Calculate the tangential speed. (Ans: V = 0.75 ms-1)
b) Calculate the centripetal force. (Ans: Fc = 9.375 N)
3. A Computer hard disk normally spins at 7000 rpm. If the hard disk takes 5.0 s to reach
this angular velocity starting from rest, calculate
a) The hard disk’s angular acceleration in rad s-2. (Ans: 146.61 rad s-2)
b) The angular displacement of the disk. (Ans: 1832.61 rad)
4. A fan was rotating at 2.0 revolutions per second slows down uniformly and it stops after

7. A wheel 25.0 cm in radius turning at 120 rpm increases its frequency to 600 rpm in 9.0

8. A wheel rotates at a constant angular velocity of 1.5 rads-1. What is the angular
displacement of a point on rim of the wheel after 2.0 minutes? (Ans: 180 rad)
9. The tires of a Myvi car make 65 revolutions as the car reduces its speed uniformly from
80 kmh-1 to 30 kmh-1. The tires have a diameter of 0.80 m. What was the angular
acceleration of the tires? (Ans: -3.25 rad s-2)
10. A wheel starts rotating initially from rest with a uniform angular acceleration and
complete 1 revolution after t = 6.0s. Determine
a) The angular acceleration. (Ans: 3.49 x 10-3 rad s-2)
b) The angular velocity after 6.0 s. (Ans: 0.021 rad s-1)
c) The angular velocity after 2 revolutions. (Ans: 0.21 rad s-1)
d) The time taken for the second revolution. (Ans: 60.01 s)
11. Marilyn is riding in a merry-go-round which is initially at rest. The distance between
Marilyn to the center of the merry-go-round is 3.0 m. At t = 0 s it is given a constant
angular acceleration a = 0.08 rad/s2 for 10.0 s. At t = 10.0 s, Find:
