ROUTINE: (2 minutes)
I will greet students, I will say: ‘hello! How are you?’ and I will write the date on the board.
Purpose: to greet my students and create a good atmosphere

purpose: to revise items from the previous lesson and to involve students into the topic
I will give students a short text in which gerunds are clearly used and connected with the
vocabulary they have learnt.

Kim and Angie want to clean the world! They are the stars of the TV series ‘Hhow clean is your
house’? Kim and Angie say that the show is a successful because cleaning is an important part of
everyone’s life. Doing housework is their passion. Angie likes cooking and she loves cleaning the
kitchen, but she hates making beds. Kim likes doing the ironing, but she hates cleaning the bath.
In this week’s episode of ‘how How clean is your house’? Kim and Angie visit the house of four
students; they hate doing housework. They never do the washing-up, take out the rubbish or
clean the bathroom. Their house is a mess! Teaching them the basic of housework isn’t easy, but
in 24 hours the students have a clean house.
There are hundreds of them online!
We are going to read the text together, we focus our attention to the words in bold, ask some
comprehension questions such as: what are the girls’ names?, what is their hobby?, where do
they work?
I will also bring an extra copy in which students have to complete the sentences using gerunds,
the sentences are from the text. The purpose is to reinforce the -ing in the verbs by reading
and writing.

Purpose: to check students’ understanding on the use of gerunds. We will work on the following
sentences; I will check the understanding of verbs before starting. We are going to do the
exercise together.
Collaborative work: students have to make questions and answer them depending on the emoji
they have in each sentence. I will nominate students to make questions and answers.

I will give students one card. They have to make sentences of their own using: hate, love, like. I
will provide some examples on the board to guide them
I will give students some minutes in order to prepare their sentences, and then we check orally. Commented [AV7]: If time is available, they might write down
their sentence on their folders.
CLOSURE: (3 minutes)
As they have another subject after English, I will say to pack their English things.
