SUPERVALU to Close Remaining Shop ‘n Save Stores

Liquidation process to being immediately

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (Oct. 18, 2018) — SUPERVALU INC. today announced it will close the
remaining 16 Shop ‘n Save stores and one remaining fuel center, located in the St. Louis, Mo. and
Springfield, Ill. areas, by Monday, Nov. 19. The stores have been part of SUPERVALU’s discontinued
operations and these closures follow the company’s efforts to sell the stores.

Liquidation will begin at the stores today with each store closing as the inventory liquidation is complete.
Due to the varying level of inventory, some stores may close sooner than others.

“The decision to close the remaining Shop ‘n Save stores was a difficult decision and one that was made
only after a diligent and thoughtful review of our options. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to secure buyers
for the remaining stores and fuel center,” said Anne Dament, Executive Vice President, Retail, Marketing
and Private Brands. “Our teams and associates should be proud of the exemplary way they have served
our customers and the communities through the years.”

Additionally, since SUPERVALU’s St. Louis Distribution Center (Hazelwood Avenue) exclusively serves
Shop ‘n Save stores, SUPERVALU expects to close this distribution center by mid-November.

Eligible employees at Shop ‘n Save stores and the St. Louis Distribution Center affected by this change,
and who continue their employment through their end date with the Company, may qualify for severance
and other transition-related assistance.
