Understand the material to be cut and perform the cutting at speeds appropriate to the
material
Perform cutting in a manner to maximize remnants
Be able to determine when blade needs replacement and perform the replacement
Identify all blanks and remnants; put the blanks in appropriate bags without losing ID. Box
the remnants with proper ID
Complete the necessary paperwork and computer entries
Effectively prioritize work load and use of available resources within time constraints
Observe proper safety procedures in a machine shop environment
Clean up the machine and working area at the end of the shift
Inspect your machine for cleanliness, worn / broken parts
Review Tie-in before proceeding
Review work order, verify everything is filled out correctly before proceeding
Arrange the machine & Inspect the following: nozzle size, nozzle perpendicularity, table set-
up, abrasive hopper and metering disk flow rate, mtl levelness
Sets-up adjusting nozzle and abrasive metering disk, space heads equally per program
instructions, enter correct cutter offsets
Programs controller by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool
registers, offsets, compensation, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry,
proving part programs
Pull material per work instructions, verify quantity, material type, record lot/batch numbers
and THICKNESS
Square material to machines axis, create part program zero
Look for improvements for cutting faster, material yields, and or foreseen concerns
Ensure timely preparation and availability of all production materials to avoid shortage during
production
Maintains specifications by inspecting parts, adjusting feeds and speeds, cutter
compensation, maintaining Z-height throughout the entire process, adhering to quality
assurance procedures and processes
Documents actual parts cut, rejects, segregates questionable parts, fills out work order
complete before moving to next operation
Visually inspects the pump and machine for signs of leaks, tares, broken parts, etc. before
operating and cutting first part
Strictly adhere to bid speed and work order specifications and ensure good quality work
Inspect first part for accuracy i.e. edge quality, dimensions, etc. before taking part to QA,
lead / supervisor
Adhere to sampling plans, perform random part sampling on your own accord
Troubleshoot machine problems to determine actual faults before calling maintenance or
lead / supervisor
Report to supervisor(s) regularly, keeping them updated on production activities and
progress e.g. shortage of material, better nesting opportunities, RISKS, etc.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions,
irregularities, and continuing needs.
Supports the company’s Mission, Vision & Values.
Reviews procedures, work orders, blueprints, set-up sheets, .DXF files & verbal work
instructions.
Able to program and retrieve DXF files from server and load into Flowpath (programming
software) to provide the best cutting process for a part in Flowcut (operating software).
Use Flownest (nesting software) to arrange parts & maximize material usage from sheet or
roll stock.
Able to create CNC programs using MasterCam select tooling and program at the machine.
Performs program offsets at machine controls if needed.
Able to set up and/or make necessary changes to set ups.
Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on waterjet and CNC router.
Assists with maintenance and care of work area and shop as needed.
Able to perform dimensional inspections using, mylars, calipers and/or scales.
Work safely and adhere to all EH&S requirements.
Ready parts and paperwork
Document sign off on all applicable operations
Perform visual in process inspection of product & segregate non-conforming product.
Assist as required or assigned throughout the facility
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest opportunities for work area.
Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices as outlined in the employee handbook or
directed by the supervisor
