Frequently Asked Questions

1. When is the application due?

The deadline for all MS (full-time and part-time) applications and materials for Spring 2018 is
November 1, 2017.

Applications and materials for PhD and MS in Finance and Risk Engineering programs (priority
consideration) for Fall 2018 is December 15, 2017.

Applications and materials for MS (full-time) and MS in Finance and Risk Engineering programs
(regular consideration) for Fall 2018 has been extended to March 1, 2018.

Application and materials for MS (part-time) programs for Fall 2018 is May 1, 2018

2. What is required in the application?

We will cover this at the end of the presentation, but this webpage can explain the

3. What are the average test scores?

GRE Quantitative: 164

GRE Verbal: 151

We do not heavily review the writing section. Subject tests are not required.

We cannot provide average scores by program or department.

GMAT: 650-700

GMAT is only accepted for technology management MS programs.

4. What is the minimum TOEFL or IELTS score?

TOEFL: 90 ibt

IEFLTS: 7.0

5. What are the job placement statistics for my department?

Unfortunately, we do not have job placement statistics for individual departments or


programs. Please contact the departments for more specific information. However, generally
speaking for all of our graduates - we have a 90% placement rate within 3 months of
graduation.

6. How do I apply for scholarships?


All MS applicants are evaluated for scholarship consideration based on the application for
admission. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will find out with your admission letter.
Scholarships are awarded based on merit, test scores and transcripts are reviewed for this
purpose. PhD students are reviewed for funding opportunities.

7. How do I apply for a job on-campus?

Students can apply for on-campus jobs after they arrive. You should contact the Wasserman
Center for Career Development to find out more information for open positions.

8. Will these slides be available after the presentation?

Yes! At the end of the presentation, you will be given an opportunity to download the slides.

9. If I "raise my hand" during the presentation, will my question get answered faster?

No. Please do not "raise your hand".

10. Is there a deadline for me to accept my offer of admission?

No. We know you have a lot going on and we hope to make this process less stressful for you.
Accept your offer when you are ready.

11. Does NYU provide housing?

Currently, we are not offering housing to School of Engineering graduate students. However,
we are working with the housing office to change this. If housing becomes available for our
students, you would receive an email after admission with the link for you to apply for a spot
in the residence hall. NYU does provide great resources for off-capus housing, please see this

12. How will I receive the application fee waiver code?

This will be emailed out within 48 hours following the information session and will be sent to
the email address that you used to register for this webinar. Unfortunately, we cannot issue
refunds for fees that have already been paid.

13. Can I apply for two programs at once?

No, you may only apply for one NYU Tandon program at a time. You can apply to more than
one NYU school at a time.
14. What is the status of my application?

Unfortunately we cannot provide your application status during this event. Please check your
Albert checklist online or contact the Office of Graduate Admissions for further assistance.
