Walt Whitman was born on May 31, 1819 in West


Hills, New York.

Whitman is considered the poet prophet of life.

He was a part of the transition


between transcendentalism and realism.

Whitman is a revolutionary who was in favor of the


equality of man with woman; I was against slavery
and the death penalty.

He died on March 26, 1892.
