year, at different spaces on Godrej’s expansive campus, is definitely where you

Godrej has always believed in pushing the envelope and developing new
ideas on different forums. L’affaire, which is now looking forward to the third
edition in 2019, has been established as a unique platform that encapsulates the
future of lifestyle.
With L’affaire, Mumbai’s suburbs have begun to witness a creative curation
of the best in the lifestyle domain. The evenings, replete with interactions and
events, present experiences that have never before been put together at any one
address. It is no wonder then that a host of celebrities, influencers and invitees
mark the date in their calendars and head to the cool environs and relaxing
ambience of Godrej for a memorable outing.
The expansive spaces of Godrej One and Godrej Trees respectively played
warm and welcoming host on the first and second occasions. The last two
editions of the lifestyle soiree have seen high-end fashion labels step out in style
and beauty brands put forward their best face, showcasing the coolest offerings
of the season. Exotic food, classy cocktails, arty interactions and engaging
conversations with experts filled the scintillating evenings with information and
a lot of fun, as the invitees participated in the interactive workshops and tasting
sessions. The guests who flocked to the venue were in great spirits from the word
go — right till the evening ended almost after the witching hours of the night.
The minds behind L’affaire take a great deal of pride in showcasing different
experiences — and the planning for the same starts months in advance. L’affaire
is a proud moment for the group. It is another visible presentation of its
blueprint for the future, one that is invigorating, exciting and all-encompassing!

W
ith its offbeat and engaging
offerings from various spheres of
life on a single platform, L’affaire,
an initiative by Godrej, is a unique lifestyle
experience that promises the very best
from food, theatre, music, culture, fashion
or just conversations, Interactive sessions
proved to be both stimulating and thought-
provoking, with a mix of names from the
cultural world leaving the audiences with
something to ponder after their talks.
Fashion was the flavour of the evening
with Nachiket Barve showcasing
his collections in a show curated
by Alesia Raut, one that was an ode
to Indian craftsmanship and lines,
fashionistas witnessed a glamorous
hair show by Godrej Professional.
Journalist and author Meghna Pant held
a book reading session which delighted
all those with a penchant for the written
word. Mini Mathur, who hosts a travel-
centric television show, engrossed her
audiences in a lively dialogue about
solo travel for women. There was also
celebrity nutritionist Pooja Makhija and
RJ Annie who indulged audiences with
a tête-à-tête on healthy eating. And,
renowned chefs shared the stage with
Tanya Dubash, who launched the Godrej
Food Trends Report 2018, curated by
Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal.
Even as we look back to that
evening’s excitement, and memories
continue to stir our imaginations,
plans are already afoot to curate the
next edition – that will be hosted
here in January 2019. As the future
of lifestyle and luxury once again
gets its premier showcase, we can
assure you that it will be bigger,
brighter, bolder and better. And
once again the air at this inspiring
Godrej headquarters will be abuzz
with conversations, the thrill of
interactions and the magic of it all!

trends this season and the muses that inspire his collections….

surprise then that his latest
collection comprises separates
that are a melange of clever
innovation and exquisite
craftsmanship. Using traditional
textiles and techniques in a
contemporary fashion, this line,
which was recently showcased
at Lakmé Fashion Week,
includes multipurpose festive
wear silhouettes and pieces
that can be layered
as well as worn
individually. Created
using appliqué, cutwork,
embroidery and gota patti
in a whole new avatar, the
collection is one that will
catch the attention
of many.
“I think women are
shopping quite smartly.
People today want
clothes that are going
to last, and that are
creatively produced and
designed — clothes
that go beyond one
function. Nobody really
has endless wardrobe
space or budgets, and

so everyone wants to buy
pieces that can be worn in
many ways. They pick those
that really add meaning and
value to their wardrobes.
And it is, of course, the
festive season, so clothes
have to be dressy, but
light and modern as well
— which, I think, is what
women want.”
“I’m designing the costume
for a bunch of feature films,
which is something that is
keeping my plate very full.
It’s exciting to tell stories
through characters on the
big screen, as opposed to how we tell
stories on the runway. Character-wise, from
a film point of view, there are always new
and exciting stories to be told, and for me
as a costume designer, it’s always about
the integrity of telling that character's
story in their own voice.”
“One of the other pet passions apart from
my work is wildlife photography. It’s
something that helps me detach from the
pace of fashion. Visually, there are also
so many things to be found, out there in
the world. In the last decade, nature has
constantly informed my work, and it’s
interesting to look at the its patterns and

that promotes and supports theatre and arts — shares her
thoughts on why Gen-Next is passionately embracing the stage
I
t may seem odd, but in this age of
oversaturation of digital media in our
lives, I have found that more and more
young people, at least in urban India, are
turning to theatre — almost as though they
crave some human connect. And theatre,
perhaps, is that balm that enables you to
be moved, triggered and inspired along
with fellow audience members, strangers
or friends, in the darkened auditorium that
is a safe space for all. Theatre, after all, is a
communal act of engagement. It does not
exist unless there is at least one audience
member to perform for. And so, it is the
simple act of experiencing the very same
thing as your fellow audience members
and deriving your own meaning of it
which makes this art of performance such
a powerful medium.
It was truly riveting to watch the young
audience at our recent show at IIM Indore.

performances by some of their artistes.
They brought to the stage engrossing
performances by Sayantika Ghosh and
Prathamesh Tambe. While Ghosh’s
style of music is Ambient Pop, Tambe’s
works are soul stirring and eccentrically
psychedelic. Adding to the live experience
at L’affaire Vikhroli was music producer
Ashish Manchanda, who alongside Tambe
stirred up a rhythmic storm on stage with
the drums.
Under the aegis of Ujjla and Ashish
Manchanda, Boon Castle Media
and Entertainment continues to
institutionalise the independent music
sector across the country. And their line-
up of artistes already includes performers
from genres like pop, alternative, fusion,
classical, Sufi and contemporary work. It
is a strong one to watch out for!

by telling me about her feelings and then
proceeded to answer my question with
great foresight.”
“If I could bring absolutely anyone on my
show, I’d pick Sting. He’s a poet, a bassist,
a singer, a songwriter, an author and has
had a very exciting life growing up on
the fringes of a shipyard in Newcastle. He
travelled all over the world in pursuit of
his musical inclinations, first with his cult
band The Police and then as a solo artiste
with his touring band. I’d give anything
to talk to him about his experiences and
relive them with him.”
“It’s important to stand out in a market
that is cluttered with Bollywood music.
I have nothing against the genre; in fact,
I quite enjoy it. But from a listener’s
perspective, one needs to provide variety.

outlet in the city, and has all the
familiar trappings of its brethren,
which include the rustic wooden interiors,
dim lighting and an all-round easygoing
vibe. Fun additions to this branch — and
they are hard to miss — are the adorable
colourful crocheted chairs that are super
comfortable to park yourself on for hours
as you while away time or do a spot of
work. Like its counterparts, Vikhroli Social
prides itself on its great music, which
urges visitors to get off their seats and
groove — and if you happen to be there
when a gig’s on, then you’re in luck! Sports
lovers are in for a treat because the space
also screens matches live. So, there’s never
a dearth of activities to keep one occupied.
The menu at this outlet has all the
usual suspects like the Chakhna ‘Bitings’
Tiffin, Fully Loaded Nachos and Chicken
Sausage Fries, but you might want to try
out the Pan-seared Rice Noodles with
Stir-fried Tenderloin. The hearty breakfast
menu is always a great go-to option, but
