Objective​​: To learn and distinguish the different types of curriculum that exist and to find real
world examples of the curriculums that are present within a classroom. Students will be
presented with different scenarios and be asked to identify what type of curriculum is being
described. It is also of importance that students learn which curriculums are within their control
as educators

II. ​Procedures

1. The purpose of this lesson is to inform the audience, as aspiring teachers about what
curriculum is and its application in the classroom. Information about the different types
of curriculum will be conveyed, as well as key points differentiating each curriculum for
one another. The lesson is also meant to give insight into how curriculum is not always
academic, and can take many forms outside of the traditional classroom.
2. For full effectiveness of the lesson, the term curriculum must be understood as an
umbrella term. This mean that it entices a wide variety of lesson plans, objectives and
ways of learning. It is paramount to understand what is included and is NOT included is
just important when it comes to curriculum. ​Socialization ​will be defined for the
audience as it is important to understanding curriculum outside of the school.
3. Modeling- The lesson will be carried out through various and mixed mediums such as
YouTube clips, board drawings and lecturing. Powerpoint slides will be used to convey
the general or rudimentary definitions of each type of curriculum. YouTube clips will be
used for examples of the curriculum at work. Lecturing from note cards will be used to to
go into depth or more detail on particular curriculums.

III. ​Materials

Materials needed for the lesson be as follows: Powerpoint, YouTube clips, Whiteboard, and the
notes which will be passed out at the beginning of class.

IV​. Assessment

A six question kahoot quiz will be provided for the assessment. The questions wil start of with
easy, memorization ones. The questions will become progressively harder and more
conceptualized. For the last few questions, students will be given situations and asked to identify
what type of curriculum is presented.

V. ​Closure

“All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does
not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost”.​ (Tolkien).​ We are what what we emit to
others. In this often thankless, yet rewarding journey it is important to stay optimistic and to say
no to negativity. Half of life is our attitude towards it.
