(PRE-ACTIVITY)
 What does the sequences from the stratigraphy of
sedimentary rocks shows?

Activity: Stratigraphy

Procedure:
concepts and
practicing new skills 1
1. Cut the styrofome in a rock shape.
(ACTIVITY PROPER)
2. Slice/make a layer of the cut out rock.
3. Color each layer using the acrylic paint/water color.
4. Put together each layer by using scotch tape.

Guide question:
1. In which layer we can possibly find the fossils?
2. What does rock stratigraphy tell about geologic time?

Analysis of Theories, Concepts and Principles

Explicate the concepts of Intrusion, Superposition and Unconformity.

2. Explain how each layer indicates the age of the rock relative to
the next layer.

Essay Question:

Choose one question and answer briefly.

Illustrate and explain the stratification of rocks.

Rubrics:
I. Evaluating learning
(ASSESSMENT) (5 points) Exceptional – student responses far exceed what is expected
(4 points) Excellent – information is factually accurate and offers extra
supporting facts.
(3 points) Good – The student somewhat responds beyond the basic
level of the question to provide supporting details and or interpretation.
(2 points) Fair – student responses, although somewhat correct, are
lacking in relevant details and supporting examples and or interpretation.
(1 point) Not Mastered - student responses are largely incorrect.

J. Additional activities for Tour the student within the vicinity to observe/gather possible samples of
application or stratified rocks.
