Instructions for writing TE SDL Project Report SEM-I

1. Prepare one copy of your manuscript.
2. Limit your Seminar report 20 to 30 pages (Excluding certificate, index and
acknowledgement and glossary and references pages).
3. The footer “SKNCOE, Department of Computer Engineering 2018-19 should be included.
(10, Times Roman, Center justified)
4. Main part of manuscripts should be Times Roman, 12 pts, justified and 1.5 line spacing.
5. Use paper size 8.5” x 11” or A4 (210 x 197 mm). Follow following margins.

Margin Paper 8.5” x 11” Paper A4

Top 1” 25.4 mm
Left 1.5” 37 mm
Bottom 1.25” 32 mm
Right 1“ 25.4 mm

6. All paragraphs will be single spaced with a double space between each paragraph. Each
paragraph will begin with a five-space indentation.
7. Chapter tiles should be bold with 14 pt typed in all CAPITALS letters and should be aligning
at the center of the page.
8. Section heading should be aligning at the left with 12 pt and bold and capitalized.
9. Section subheading should be aligning at the left with title case.
10. Leave two spaces between section heading and one space between two-section subheadings.
11. Illustrations (Charts, drawings, photographs and figures.) must be embedded in text.
Illustrations must be sharp, clear, black and white.
12. Illustrations downloaded from Internet are NOT acceptable.
1) Illustrations should not be more than 2 per page. (One is ideal).
2) FigureNo and title at bottom with 12 pt.
3) Legends below the title in 10 pt
4) Proper margins from all sides.
5) Illustrations should not be photocopied.

13. Number the pages on the front side centrally below the footer,
14. References should be either in the order as they appear in the paper
15. Symbols and notations if any should be included in nomenclature section only.
16. Order of report: -
1) Cover page and front page [Refer P1]
2) Certificate from Institute. [Refer P2]
3) Acknowledgement
4) Abstract
5) Contents [Refer P3]
6) Chapter: Introduction
7) Other chapters (Starting on new page)

17. All chapters, section heading and sub headings should be numbered. For chapter use numbers
1, 2,3 and for sub headings 1.1,1.2, 1.3. And section subheadings 2.1.1, 2.1.2 etc.
18. For writing cover page and certificate, use the template provided with the same font size , type
and spacing.
