TODAY’S ARCHITECTURE
TOMORROWS ENERGY...
WOULD WE HAVE ENOUGH ENERGY IN THE FUTURE TO RUN TODAY’S ARCHITECTURE..? THIS PROJECT REPRESENTS A FUTURE VISION OF HOW WE ARE GOING TO RUN THIS
AS A NEW GENERATION OF ARCHITECTS WE SHOULD THINK ABOUT A NEW AGE OF MASSIVE CONSTRUCTIONS IN THE FUTURE WITH OUT CONSUMING THAT MUCH ENERGY
ARCHITECTURE THAT WOULD WORK AND INTERACT WITH ANY KIND OF CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MIGHT NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME.. IT MIGHT NOT BE THE COMPLETE SOLUTION
WITHOUT CONSUMING THAT MUCH ENERGY THAT WOULD MIGHT NOT BE AVAILABLE IN THE BUT WE HOPE THAT ITS GOING TO LEAD TO IT.
FUTURE..
ARCHITECTURE NOW DEPENDS MAINLY ON THE ARTIFICIAL ENERGY THAT WILL END SOON
IGNORING THE MOST IMPORTANT SOURS OF ENERGY THAT STAYED FOR HUNDREDS OF
YEARS BEFORE AND IT WILL NEVER ENDS WHICH IS NATURE ..
BY BRINGING BACK NATURE TO CITY WE CAN NO MORE DEPEND ON ARTIFICIAL ENERGY...
SUCH AS:

TODAY’S ARCHITECTURE
TOMORROWS ENERGY...
DESIGN
THE IDEA HERE IS TO CREATE A DYNAMIC DESIGN LAY OUT THAT CAN FIT ANYWHERE IN
ANY LAND SHAPE WITHOUT LOSING ITS FEATURES,
IF WE TAKE A LOOK ON THE OLD ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE...OLD ARCHITECTURE HAVE
BEEN CREATED BASED ON A MODULE..IF WE TAKE THE IDEA THAT HAD BEEN USED BEFORE
2000 YEARS AND APPLY IT NOW..WE WILL FIND THAT IT CAN FIT PERFECTLY WITH WHAT
WE ARE LOOKING FOR…THAT’S WHY WE TOKE A MODULE OF 3.5X3.5X3.5 ARRANGE IT
TOGETHER IN ONE GROUP THEN STARTS TRIMMING PIECES UNTIL IT FIT WITH THE SHAPE
OF THE LAND CREATING A LOT OF VOIDS OUTDOOR AND INDOOR SPACES SHADES AND A
LOT OF OTHER BENEFITS..IN THIS PROJECT WE PREFERRED TO MAKE A VERTICAL
EXAMPLE TO BE CLOSER IN A WAY TO THE CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE NOW…
THIS LAYOUT IS A DYNAMIC DESIGN LAY OUT THAT CAN BE USED IN ANY LAND SHAPE OR
ANY KIND OF TOPOGRAPHY..
USING THE IDEA THAT HAD BEEN USED BEFORE 2000 YEARS AND APPLY IT ON THE
FUTURE ARCHITECTURE PROFESS THAT THIS DESIGN LAYOUT HAVE LESS NEGATIVITY
AND MORE POSITIVITY AND CAN BE USED IN ANY TIME IF YESTERDAY ,TODAY, OR EVEN
TOMORROW ..

AJMAN MUNICIPALITY
NEW HEAD OFFICE BUILDING
CONCEPT
The development of cities like Ajman has to be seen related to the development of the UAE. This
development is unique, and did not happen before elsewhere in the world. Dubai as the city which is
in the world the synonymous for this development, created its own language of architecture. This
language is exciting and serves a society which is looking to get its needs satisfied. But talking this
language implies the acceptance of an input which is based on occasional interests. The question we
tried to follow in this competition deals with this scenario and we asked ourselves how can a city like
Ajman, which is part of this described development, keep its identity and develop its future.
Identity is not only to do with tradition, even though it is an essential part . It is also to do with the
ability to translate the past into the future by creating a new past. It is to do with the dialogue of the old
and the new. It is also to do with the anticipation of the old and the new. The best way of protecting
heritage is to increase it.
Our design deals with this issue. The old fortress in Ajman, as a symbol of political power and
effectiveness is translated into a new building, a new symbol of the government of the Emirate. An old
building, or a fragment, is in our view not museum or a ruin, it is to be seen as reactivated informa-
tion, it can be a living and active urban element. The old building is an “information-generator”.

NEW HEAD OFFICE BUILDING
Environmental Quality
The UAE IS well known for its “windtowers”, a symbol of this country. These windtowers are elements
using natural energy to make life for the people more comfortable.
Our building also uses wind for ventilation. We lead the hot air from the outside at the ground level
into the building. The inside of the building reacts due to its height like a chimney, the air accelerates
more and more on its way to the top, where it is led to get out of the building. When opening the
windows of the inner offices the circulating air can get into the offices, supporting the circulation of air
from AC.
The building can produce energy using the sun. Solar collectors, which are part of the facade, catch
the sunrays, leading it to an energy collector. A transponder will lead the energy to the net, from where
it can be made available to the users of the builindg. The building will have on the second floor a
lecture hall, where students, in & guests can get information on alternative energy its importance
As the windtowers in the past, also our building is using natural resources for efficient .
The scheme we present is to be seen as a concept which can be developed in many directions. The
solution for a given architectural problem is not a matter of the goal, in this stage it is a matter of the
process.
The roof-gardens in the inside carry plants and trees to spend shadow and support the microclimatic
conditions in the inside of the building. these ‘green zones’ are used by people to relax, eat, chat...
due to contemporary scientific knowledge regarding working space.

NEW HEAD OFFICE BUILDING
The Transformation element, and revolving the remaining elements into a vertical direction, we get a leftover space which
we use as roofgardens for the use of the employees working in this building. The office space is
In a first step we use a grid to define the main directions (horizontal, vertical and diagonal) of the old penetrating the transparent skin of the building in each level, what makes the user feel to sit in a
building. These directions are given by the construction, the backbone of the building. We call it private space at the same time he feels to sit in a high rise tower. The offices are connected via
“separation”. In a second step these grids are extracted from their origin (fortress), new structures are bridges and stairs.
alive, which have no relation to each other at that moment. next step, te layering of these structures
forms a first common element, a new structure is born. This new structure can now independently be
shaped to create a new building, but with the genes of its origin. The grids, the boundaries and the
intersections of the grid create the main elements of a new building.
A municipality is the main institution of a society in a city or a country. This organization serves the
public, And the building itself is partly used by the public.
Our design separates the building into two part- Public & Adminstrative. To make this obvious we use
the two main geometrical directions : horizontal and vertical.
The horizontal element is a platform which houses the public space . The shape of this platform has
its origin in the conceptual grid of the fortress. Counters, halls, receptions etc. are part of this space.
The platform is entered by escalators and staircases from the ground. The roof of the platform is a
green area which can be used 24 hours by everybody. It is also a place for public events, organized
by the municipality.
The vertical element houses the administrative space for the municipality. The form of the transparent
element of the tower is based on the intersections from the grid founded by shifting the subtracted
elements
in the conceptual stage. It symbolizes the cohesion of the traditional fortress, cohering now the
structure of the building.
Each office space itself is a 3 level construction based on a rectangle plan. This plan is separated into
4 rectangle pieces which create an inner space, the courtyard of the fortress. By reducing one

BEDOUIN’S TRACE
TOMORROWS ENERGY...
THIS UNIQUE URBAN CONDITION IS CREATED TO SATISFY THE VANITY OF ITS PEOPLE AND
IS POWERED BY A TOURISM INDUSTRY WHICH USES HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC-
RELATION TOOLS TO BRAND THE PRODUCT WORLDWIDE. AS A RESULT OF THIS STRATEGY,
DUBAI HAS AN ENORMOUS INCREASE OF TOURISTS EACH YEAR WHICH FOCUS ON
SHOPPING, BEACH AND ENTERTAINMENT.
THE MACHINE FOLLOWS THE TRACE OF ARABIC NOMADS AND SUPPORTS CULTURAL
DIALOGUE ON THE ONE HAND SIDE. THE TRACE ITSSELF IS SEEN AT THE SAME TIME THE
MACHINE TOUCHES IT. SEMITRANSPARENT MEMBRANES OPEN SMOOTHLY AND GIVE WAY
FOR THE HOTEL. AS FAR IT HAS PASSED, THE MEMBRANES CLOSE AND GET COVERED
AGAIN WITH SAND BY THE WIND.
NOTHING HAPPENED.

BEDOUIN’S TRACE
TOMORROWS ENERGY...
THE PROJECT “BEDOUIN’S TRACE” IS A HOTEL-FUNCTION FOR DUBAI AND THE 21ST
CENTURY. IN CONTRAST TO THE EXISTING, STATIC HOTELS IN DUBAI, “BEDOUIN’S TRACE”
IS A NON-STATIC MACHINE WHICH MOVES FROM THE CITY INTO THE DESSERT, A TRANS-
PORTATION ELEMENT BETWEEN TWO POLES, A VIBRATING ONE (CITY) AND ONE WITH A
CALMING INFLUENCE (DESSERT). THE WORDS TRANSITION, MUTATION, CHANGE, TRIP AND
MOVEMENT, AS PART OF THE EXPERIENCE, CONTAIN SUFFICIENT POWER TO SUGGEST
ANALYSIS AND CREATIVE PROPOSALS. THE TRIP IS THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING, THE
CONSRUCTION OF BIOGRAPHY. A POETIC APPROACH STARTS TO ATTACK THE USERS. THE
FUNCTION OF TOURISM IS CHANGED INTO A PROGRAM OF CREATIVITY.
ON THE OTHER HAND SIDE IT IS A FIRST CLASS HOTEL WITH A 6 STAR COMFORT, WITH 12
SUITES, EACH 250 SQM, , A LIBRARY, A CINEMA, A RESTAURANT A GYM, A MEDIATION ROOM
AND A ROOF-POOL.
AFTER 2 DAYS OF TRAVELING IT COMES TO THE “RENDEVOUZ”. THE GUEST WILL LEAVE
THE MACHINE TO BE WELCOMED IN THE DESSERT HOTEL. THIS, STATIC, MASS TRANS-
LATES WITH ITS FORM THE SHAPE OF THE BEDOUIN’S TENT. THE SKIN OF THE TENT IS
FLEXIBLE AND SOMETIMES IT WAS TRANSFORMED BY THE DESSERT WIND INTO A IRREGU-
LAR FORM.
THEY WILL STAY SOME DAYS TILL TRANSFORMING BACK TO THE CITY, USING THE
MACHINE.
