In Spanish the languague make a diference between SER / ESTAR / EXISTIR.

BE. When you talk about SER, you use TO BE with yourself. For example: I'm tall. I'm fat. (Yo soy alto. Yo
soy gordo) When you talk about ESTAR, you use TO BE with the place. For example: I'm here (Yo estoy
aquí) When you talk about EXISTIR, you use TO BE with the life. For example: I'm live. Yo existo/vivo.
SER: to describe how you are related to someone in your family or who you are in your
familiy: Él es mi hermano. Yo soy hijo único, no tengo hermanos. Describe your family: Mi
familia es pequeña / es grande.

TENER: to say how many relatives you have: Tengo dos primas. ¿Tú cuántas primas tienes?.

ESTAR: to give detail about your marital status: Estoy casada, estoy divorciada. BUT –>
TENGO novio/a/ pareja

POSESIVOS

You use a possessive adjective before the noun that’s possessed in order to express my, your, his, her,
its, our, or their. Possessive adjectives must agree in gender and number (singular or plural) with the
objects that are possessed; they NEVER agree with the possessors:

Mi madre, mi padre, mis hermanos, mis hermanas = MY

Tu madre, tu padres, tus hermanos, tus hermanas = YOUR

Su madre, su padre, sus hermanos, sus hermanas = HIS / HER / YOUR (Formal)

Nuestra madre, nuestro padre, nuestros hermanos, nuestras hermanas = OUR

Vuestra madre, vuestro padre, vuestros hermanos, vuestras hermanas = YOUR (PLURAL)

Su madre, su padre, sus hermanos, sus hermanas = THEIR
