Dividing sample units
• Unsurfaced and asphalt surface roads
(including asphalt over concrete)
– 2500 ± 1000 ft2
• Asphalt surface airfield – 5000 ± 2000 ft
• Concrete and airfields with joint spaced
≤ 25 ft - 20 ± 8 slabs

Note: Not all samples units are required to be the same


size but must fit within guidelines
1 ft = 0.09 m2
