Apply Online
Before you start filling up the online application make sure the following are ready with
you :
1. A scanned image file (preferably a jpg file) of your Passport size photograph. Applications
with personal photos or edited photos uploaded will be rejected.
2. Demand Draft details (DD number, bank, etc.) or Credit / Debit Card details for online
payment of application fee.
3. Academic details.

Important Instructions: Your login account username would be the reference code that will be
generated by the system on successful registration. Please save the email sent by the system
after successful registration of your application.

If certain fields show error while registering, please try to modify the data and avoid using
special characters such as . , ` ' ( ) / - etc.

If you intend to apply for multiple subjects, you will have to provide different email id for each
application.

Check all the details before clicking the registration button.

You may take a print of your application after successful registration or save the same as a pdf
file. Applicants wishing to pay by DD may send the DD by writing their reference code, name
and telephone number behind it. You may send the print of your application along with the DD
for easy reference.

Applicants paying the application fee online will be directed to the payment gateway. Follow
the instructions and complete the payment transaction. If the transaction is not completed
due to technical reasons, you may login to your account and check the application/payment
status. After successful completion of the transaction, please login to your account and check
the payment status. If the payment is not complete, you may attempt paying online again. A
maximum of four attempts are allowed for online payment. If you are unsuccessful with the
online payment you can send DD by first filling up the DD details in the application form and
then send the DD by post/courier. Please write your reference code, name and telephone
number behind the DD.

Hall tickets will be issued or will be allowed to be generated from the student login only after
the last date of receipt of applications, subject to receipt of payment.

Application Fee &

Payment
Application Fee (Non-Refundable): Rs 500/- for online applications and Rs 550/- for manual
applications. Rs 800/- for students who wish to take the test as walk-in candidates (Please see
the walk-ins section on this website).

Application fee can be paid online by Debit/Credit Card or through Demand Draft.

Demand Draft:
Biology: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of "National Centre for Biological
Science" payable at Bangalore.
Other Subjects: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of "Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research" payable at Mumbai.

Please note:
(a) Instructions for downloading/printing of Hall tickets will be intimated by email only after
receipt of application fee/approval of fee waiver.
(b) DDs with wrong denomination will not be returned and hall ticket will not be issued.

Application Fee Waiver

A waiver of the application fee on grounds of financial distress may be requested by a letter
from the Principal or the Head of the Department justifying the request. The
letter/recommendation from the Principal/HOD should be on the official letter head duly
signed and stamped.

Students applying online may click the fee waiver option in the payment section of the
application form and send the letter from the Principal / HOD along with a print of the

Students applying manually may send the letter from the Principal/HOD along with the filled-in
application form and photographs.

Please note that applications with fee waiver request will be issued hall tickets subject to
availability of seats.
