TURNER, DIRECTOR HOUSING AND NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAMS SUBJECT: RENTAL INSPECTION ORDINANCE — PROPOSED REVISIONS DATE: SEPTEMBER 27, 2018 Attached are proposed revisions to the Rental Inspection Ordinance and a revised rental inspection notification letter. Staff has met with interested parties on multiple occasions to obtain feedback and suggestions to strengthen the existing ordinance. The proposed revisions include changes to the frequency of rental inspections and establishes a set percentage of units to be inspected annually. Please advise if there are additional changes you would like to make to the documents. Included in the attachments is a marked-up version of the rental inspection ordinance and a clean version of the document. If no any additional changes are needed, the documents are ready to be shared with the City Attorney's Office for legal review. If you have questions or need additional information, please advise. Attachments: (3) Sec. 8-581, Rental Inspection Goals Rental Housing Units inspection goals will be established based on the following criteria ‘The City of Little Rock will randomly inspect and / or review inspections conducted on 20% of the total registered rental units annually selected by the Housing and Neighborhood Programs Code Enforcement Division based on those units and or complexes registered with the City of Little Rock Treasury office. The ‘current number of units registered is in excess of 30,000. Complexes with multiple buildings will be inspected based upon a random sampling (20%-40%) with equal percentages of units being inspected in each building and at a minimum one unit inspected per building. ‘Newly constructed complexes or units (
