A guide to TWICE

In your first Saida video, you learned the basics of TWICE. This beginning
portion of the PDF is a refresher and more information on the group and each
member.

Let’s get started.

TWICE: a Kpop girl group who debuted on October 20, 2015 with 9 members
who were formed on the survival show Sixteen. Queens of singing, dancing,
acting, rapping and writing, composing and choreographing many of their songs.

Sixteen is a survival show created by TWICE’s company JYP Entertainment(one

of the 3 biggest entertainment companies in South Korea) and Mnet in 2015. The
show consisted of 16 girls who competed against each other showing off their
skills: singing, dancing, rapping, acting, charisma, and personality.

Note: before Sixteen began, all girls were trainees in the company JYPE. A trainee
is someone who is signed under a company and trains their skills in order to
become a Kpop star. Training can take a few months or even a decade before
debut. People can audition to become a trainee or get scouted on the streets.

- Secretly auditioned for JYPE and passed. Trained for 5 years
- Position in group: Lead Vocalist, Lead Dancer, Center/Face of the Group
(always in the center in music videos, photos, performances etc., tends to be
the most popular, brings attention to group, has great variety skills, and is the
overall ‘brand name’ of TWICE)

- Was eliminated in Sixteen then was brought back to debut in TWICE
