WAEMU RURAL WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROJECT:
Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Cote d’Ivoire and Niger
Duration - 5 Years
IsDB Financing - USD 12.5 mln. (each country); Total IsDB – USD 87.50
mln.

Executing Agency - Ministries Responsible for Water Supply and Sanitation

Project Objective is increase the proportion of the rural population with
access to improved drinking water source and sanitation facility in the
WAEMU.
The key results of the project are:
• 10% reduction in time for fetching water;
• Increase by more than 900,000 the rural population with access to
improved drinking water sources;
• Increase by more than 120,000 the rural population with access to
improved sanitation facilities.
