answer to the class
• After the think-pair-share the teacher will then explain that Jesus also
modelled to us the importance of forgiveness

• “How has Jesus done this in the past?”
• The teacher will than ask the class to think of a time when they had to
ask Jesus for forgiveness or something they want to be forgiven for.
• The class will then conduct a whole class prayer:
• Dear Lord, I apologise for the things I have done wrong in the
past. Clean my heart, if I hurt people or do them wrong give me
strength to apologise, if someone hurts me or does me wrong,
please give me strength to forgive.
• Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):
• Each student will be given a A4 piece of paper

mins • Students should reflect on the time where they did something wrong
and had to ask Jesus for forgiveness. Students should then use this
reflection to draw an image of Jesus forgiving their sins.

saying and show their reaction to Jesus’ words of forgiveness.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students) Scissors

• At the end of the lesson students are to share with the person next to
them what they drew and the meaning behind their art work. Glue

• If students are comfortable they can then share their reflection/ coloured pencils and markers

• The art work the students complete will be displayed in the classroom
so students are constantly reminded of how they felt in the moment
when Jesus forgave them.
• The teacher will supply the students with some materials to complete
their art work in a creative manner, students can also use their own
materials and their iPads to help them with their art/reflection.

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

• Students will need to pack away all their materials neatly and put them
where they belong. All rubbish will need to be picked up off the floor and
placed in the bin.

• Students’ names need to placed on the back of their artwork and put out
on the teachers desk to be marked, and later displayed in the
classroom.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will they be

assessed?)
• The teacher will use the students’ work samples as an assessment to
see if the students were able to successfully complete the lesson
objectives.

• The teacher will mark the students’ art work and make comments on
how well the students were able to complete the activity.

• The teacher should identify what they did well as well as what could
have been added in their reflection.
