Obligations. This use in spoken English indicates a less strong obligation.

Example:

 You're supposed to turn off the light when you are not working in

the room.

2. "be supposed to" is often used to tell about something that is considered

true by many people or widely believed.

 You're not supposed to open an umbrella indoors. It's unlucky.

3. "Be supposed to" can be interpreted as "be required" or "be expected to"

4. "Be not supposed to" is used to indicate that something is not permitted

or prohibited.

Example:

 You're not supposed to smoke in this room. This is an air-

conditioned room. (It is for smoke in the air-conditioned room.)

 I'm not supposed to tell you this secret. (I am not allowed to tell

you this secret.)

Kewajiban adalah ungkapan bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk menyatakan

suatu keharusan.

1. Selain "harus / seharusnya" Anda dapat menggunakan "seharusnya" untuk

memberikan Kewajiban. Penggunaan ini dalam bahasa Inggris lisan

menunjukkan kewajiban yang kurang kuat.

Contoh:

3. "Seharusnya" dapat ditafsirkan sebagai "diperlukan" atau "diharapkan" jika

kenyataannya tidak sama dengan pernyataan.

Contoh:

• Anda seharusnya menyerahkan tugas Anda seminggu yang lalu. (Anda

diminta untuk menyerahkan pekerjaan rumah Anda seminggu yang lalu,

4. "Tidak seharusnya" digunakan untuk menunjukkan bahwa sesuatu tidak

diizinkan atau dilarang.

Contoh:
