Marking Criteria (Demo/Implementation) Total (25) Your Marks

In your presentation, you need to briefly analyse the business requirements and 3 Marks
your designed cloud architecture. A proper topology design is necessary.
Complete functionality (e.g. node design).
Performance consideration (e.g. enough VMs and storage)
Your demo needs to meet the requirements of your design. 1 Mark
Chosen of a proper cloud implementation platform. Reasons are clearly and 1 Mark
reasonably explained.
At least more than two physical hosts in your demo (can be real physical host or 2 Marks
Virtual Esxi host).
A vCenter deployment (Windows or Linux appliance) 1 Mark
Do you need computation nodes? If not, why? If yes, at least one computation 1 Mark
node is implemented to demonstrate functionality.
Do you need storage nodes? If not, why? If yes, at least one storage node is 1 Mark
implemented to demonstrate functionality.
Do you need a security node? If not, why? If yes, have at least one security node. 1 Mark
Do you need a backup node? If not, why? If yes, have at least one backup node. 1 Mark
You need to implement vMotion, HA, DRS. 3 Marks
Have you implement a security node or a backup node to demonstrate 3 Marks
functionality?
Overall demonstration, e.g. sufficient efforts, fluent demonstration, 5 Marks
performance consideration, multiple hosts
Individual questions, e.g. Have you considered about VLANs, distributed 2 Marks
switching, host profiles, auto deploy, etc? Or demonstrate how to implement
vMotion?

Extra Marks Max 4 Marks
Any virtualisation platforms are used other than Vmware (e.g. OpenStack and 2 Marks
Hyper-V)?
Both security node and Backup node are implemented to demonstrate 2 Marks
functionality. (This becomes compulsory if a group with more than 4 members)
Multiple physical hosts are used (bridge is used instead of NAT) 1 Mark

Marking Criteria (Design/Report) Total (15)
Business Requirements 3 Marks
The group needs to clearly analyse what the business requirement would be, i.e.
specify the target client and the business case scenario for a cloud computing
infrastructure.
Cloud Architecture and Design 7 Marks
The group needs to have a detailed architecture design, including diagrams of
the proposed infrastructure and components. This part needs to include
implementation platform choices, tooling to be used or developed. Cost analysis
also needs to be included. Postgraduates are expected for more detailed analysis
on platform comparison.
Considerations and Challenges 3 Marks
You need to summary what you feel are some of the key issues or challenges in
the cloud infrastructure design, and what tools, design patterns and other
supports are available to simplify these issues or challenges.
Reference 2 Marks
In order to finish Assignment 2, the group is expected to have some research on
cloud architecture, design, and implementation. You need to reference research
sources appropriately using UTS Harvard style.
