Standards for Wire Cloth

Mesh Wire
diameter
Mesh count in 25.4mm (one inch) length
Mesh indicates the mesh count of a 25.4mm (one inch) 1 2 3
long side.
When the vertical and horizontal mesh count are different,
indicate the number for each one.

(Example: 4 mesh per inch)

Opening

diamond wire cloth, etc.

Rate to indicate a space occupied in a fixed area
Even if the mesh is the same, the opening and open area
vary depending on the wire diameter. Conversely, even if
the mesh is different, the same space and the same open Width
area may be obtained. Consider these factors when
studying the sieving efficiency and the mesh strength.

Weaving of Wire Cloth

Plain Weave
Plain weaving is used for general filtering.

#28 x 28 mesh

Twilled Weave
With twilled weaving, relatively high mesh
wire cloth of almost equal wire diameter
and an opening difficult to be woven by
plain weaving is fabricated.

#31 x 50 mesh

Plain Dutch Weave

With plain Dutch weaving, wire cloth woven
with a fine mat-like mesh of a thick wire
diameter is obtained. The wire cloth is used
most effectively for filtering centrifugal
separator and strainers, etc.

(Typical mesh specification)

10 x 60 mesh 16 x 100 mesh

14 x 80 mesh 20 x 120 mesh
14 x 150 mesh 20 x 150 mesh
10 mesh x 60 mesh

Twilled Dutch Weave

With twilled Dutch weaving, plain woven
wire cloth is twilled with two wires of the
same wire diameter as in plain weaving.
The mesh size is increased to approximately
twice as fine a size, appropriate for high
filtering performance.
(Typical mesh specification)

WIRE CLOTH
Crimp Weaving
Crimp weaving is used to weave wire cloth by
interweaving corrugated vertical and horizontal wires.
Crimp weaving enables providing a large mesh when
compared to the wire diameter.

Double Crimp Weaving

This type of crimp weaving has the same appearance as
that of plain weaving. Thick wire compared to the mesh
can be used to increase strength with better mesh
accuracy.

WIRE CLOTH
Flat-Top Weaving
This weaving forms a smooth cloth surface without
obstacles on the screen surface, creating a weave that
does not easily wear down. Flat-top cloth provides good
screening efficiency and is frequently used for vibrating
parts.
