2.2.2 AEROPUERTO INTERNACIONAL BENITO JUÁREZ DE

LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

es un aeropuerto comercial que sirve a la Zona metropolitana del Valle de México. Es

el aeropuerto más transitado de México y América Latina, por número pasajeros y operaciones

aéreas; transportando más de 44 millones de pasajeros en 2017. El aeropuerto mantiene 35

mil puestos de trabajo directos y alrededor de 15 mil indirectamente en el área adyacente. Es

propiedad del Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México y es operado por Aeropuertos y

Servicios Auxiliares, la corporación propiedad del gobierno, que también opera otros 22

aeropuertos en todo México. En los últimos años, el Aeropuerto de Toluca se ha convertido en

un aeropuerto alternativo.

Operando actualmente en los límites de su capacidad, el aeropuerto será reemplazado por

el Nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México, también abreviado como NAICM, y

estará localizado a 5 kilómetros del actual AICM, al este de Ecatepec, en el Estado de México;

adyacente a la Ciudad de México.

1. Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún

Se ubica a pocos kilómetros de la ciudad de Cancún, destino turístico principal del

Caribe mexicano. Maneja un arribo de visitantes internacionales de gran
relevancia, por lo cual se han hecho mejoras en su infraestructura durante los
últimos años. Lo visitan más de 20 millones de pasajeros al año.

2. Aeropuerto Internacional de Guadalajara “Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla”

Se localiza al sur de la ciudad, cuenta con dos terminales para brindar servicio a
distintas ciudades de México, Estados Unidos y Centro América. Su terminal de
carga puede resguardar más de 300 mil toneladas de mercancía al año.

3. Aeropuerto Internacional de Monterrey “Mariano Escobedo”

La ciudad de Monterrey es la tercera más grande del país, por ello, su aeropuerto
también es muy importante para el sector. Cuenta con dos pistas de aterrizaje que
destacan por ser de concreto asfáltico. Además, su diseño está enfocado en el
ahorro de energía. Tiene una afluencia de pasajeros cercana a los 10 millones al
año.

4. Aeropuerto Internacional de Tijuana “General Abelardo L. Rodríguez”

Este edificio se visualiza cerca de la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos, en

2017 tuvo más de 7 millones de pasajeros. Como información adicional, este
aeropuerto es una de las bases de la Fuerza Aérea Mexicana.

Benito Juárez International Airport (Mexico City Airport), one of the highest in the world (elevation
7,342ft / 2,238m), is administered and operated by Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) and has
two runways, 05R/23L 12,795ft (3,900m) and 05L/23R 12,966ft (3,952m) both asphalt paved (plans
for a third runway have recently been shelved because of insufficient space at the airport site).

The airport, which is 13km (8miles) east of the centre of Mexico City, was formally named after the
19th century president Benito Juárez in 2006, and is the country’s main international and domestic
gateway offering direct flights to more than 100 destinations worldwide .

Airport Infrastructure Details

In Feb-2015 IATA signed an agreement with Mexico’s Secretariat of
Communications and Transportation (SCT) to support the development of the
airport. As part of the agreement IATA will provide supervision and advice on
technical and operational aspects of the project as well as best-practice guidance on
airspace and slot management.

Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México (Airport Group of Mexico City) has

been given the concession to build, manage and operate the new airport. The
agreement is valid for 50 years from the beginning of operations. Grupo
Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México owns the existing Juarez International Airport.
It is a branch of government with private financing.

En el Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México están presentes todas las mayores

Servicios de metro y autobuses

El aeropuerto es atendido por la estación de metro Terminal Aérea, que pertenece a la línea 5
que corre de la estación Pantitlán a la estación Politécnico. Se localiza afuera de la terminal
nacional de la T1. Las Terminales 1 y 2 tienen dos terminales terrestre que operan 24 horas al
día, los 365 días del año. Diversas líneas de autobuses operan desde aquí y proveen servicios
de transportación continua a las ciudadades cercanas a la Ciuda

There is a substantial police presence at the airport at all times. The Federal Police patrol regularly, as
