Summary of chapter 2 "The plan"

This chapter begins when the samurai Kataoka and Hayami made a trip for 10 days from Edo,
where the Shogun Palace is, to arrive at the castle of Ako and communicate to Oishi Yoshio (the
samurai captain of the castle), about the death of Lord Asano ( the daimyo of the samurai), and
also that the government of Shogun was going to take the Castle and they were going to take the
body of Asano to the Sengaku-ji temple. The reasons for Lord Asano's death were to draw a sword
and attack Lord Kira inside Shogun's palace, which was a place of ceremony. Lord Asano lost his
life after committing Seppuku, a samurai-style death, so as not to lose his honor. To this is added
the news of the house arrest in Edo, of Asano's younger brother, Daigaku, and his subsequent
transfer to Hiroshima with his family.

Ako's samurais, furious at all that happened, meet, Horibe, one of the samurai, says that Lord Kira,
caused Asano to hurt him, and that Kira could not live like a murderer, according to the samurai
code, but Oishi told him remember that after the death of his daimyo Ansano, they are no longer
samurai, but ronin (samurais without teachers or sir), and while the crime was caused by Kira, they
must be careful and be smart, because he has friends in the government.

After a meeting called by Oishi, they made the decision to devise a plan to avenge the death of
their daimyo and that the cost of this would be seppuku. Many ronin after hearing what would be
the cost of revenge, decide to leave the castle with their families, perhaps to serve a new daimyo,
go hungry or work in other cities ..

Finally, they made another meeting in which only 62 ronin, who were loyal to their daimyo,
participated in life and death. Oishi advised them to be silent, to be secret, since to carry out the
revenge can be a long time, and also that there will be guards in the house of Kira, waiting for
them, but when they forget them, they will be able to move and take revenge.
