Displacement is the distance moved in a particular direction.

The unit of displacement is the metre (m).

Displacement is a vector quantity.
(Note: since displacement is a vector you should always say
what the direction is.)
Distance is how far you have travelled from A to B.
The unit of distance is also the metre.
Distance is a scalar quantity.
Sometimes this difference leads to a surprising result. For example, if you run all
the way round a running track you will have travelled a distance of 400 m but your
displacement will be 0 m.

El desplazamiento entre dos instantes, to y t, se corresponde con un vector que se extiende desde
la posición en to hasta la posición en t.

 Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered"
during its motion.
 Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is"; it
is the object's overall change in position.

To understand the distinction between distance and displacement, you must know the definitions.
You must also know that a vector quantity such as displacement is direction-aware and a scalar
quantity such as distance is ignorant of direction. When an object changes its direction of motion,
displacement takes this direction change into account; heading the opposite direction effectively
begins to cancel whatever displacement there once was.
