ELECTROVATE
AN INNOVATION CHALLENGE
Today we can't imagine our lives without electronics. We are
surrounded by an ever evolving plethora of electronic gadgets. In this
era, automation has become an integral and necessary part of our
lives. We strive to reduce human efforts across all fields. Such a
system should not only be innovative but also work efficiently and be
easy to adopt. So to fulfil these requirements, electronics club has
come up with ''ELECTROVATE'' to challenge your hostel spirit.

Here are the problem statements:

PROBLEM STATEMENT 1:
Technologies for Soldier Support:
Using MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) design a prototype for
physiological signal detection and conditioning - To constantly monitor the physiological
conditions for faster First Aid and continuous monitoring of soldiers. The system should be
part of the soldier’s gear and should be active all the time.

PROBLEM STATEMENT 2:
Campus Automation & Power Management:
As the technology is growing at a faster rate the usage of manual system is reduced.
Automation is the new trend in technology and in the common world. The true essence of
the digital control of the energy and the automation of appliance usage is emerged when we
use it to solve the big energy crisis problem. Thus propose a prototype that would bring
about automation in campus to increase the efficiency of an existing system, automated
appliances to minimize energy wastage and improve energy consumption

PROBLEM STATEMENT 3:
Next Generation Energy & Transportation Solutions:
Transport is an important part of India's economy but it is of very low and pathetic
standards as compared with international standards. Despite ongoing improvements in the
sector, several aspects of transportation are still riddled with problems due to outdated
infrastructure and lack of investment in less economically active parts of the country.
Propose a working prototype of a model that can improve the transportation facilities in
India by providing solutions in at least one of the following: vehicle monitoring, traffic
management and monitoring, smart vehicles, efficient road usage, smart parking, road
condition monitoring.

OR
Electricity is one of the great enablers. It boosts productivity so people can make a living,
facilitates learning and education. Yet nearly half the world lives in the dark, without access
to electricity, or might (or might not) get power from the utility for a few hours per day.
Without other options, many households resort to using kerosene lamps, which produce
dangerous fumes and can cause devastating fires. Others buy cheaply made battery-powered
lanterns, which rarely last for more than a couple of months. And although most people have
a mobile phone, few have the luxury of just plugging it in when the charge runs low.
Thus design a prototype that would allow people to generate their own electricity, store it
and use it for simple, yet fundamental, purposes such as lights and communication—all
without having to pay a utility bill, buy fuel, or produce harmful pollution. The proto type
should have an increased efficiency in terms of energy harvesting and storing
PROBLEM STATEMENT 4:
Integrated Safety System for Small Vessels:
Presently small vessels like fishing trawlers, boats and other miniature vessels do not
have any safety mechanisms for anti-collision with other vessels. This often leads to
collision of small vessels with huge ships especially during night time when the visibility is
close to zero. The objective is to develop a device that can forewarn host fishing vessels
the presence of larger vessels in the vicinity which is otherwise not possible through the
naked eyes at night. The device should be able to provide an audible warning to the
occupants and to the upcoming ship when the proximity is very close (configurable).
Efficient battery management system and cost-effectiveness are another two important
criteria.

Rules:
  Each Hostel can submit a maximum of 4 project proposals overall. 
 Hostels are not allowed to submit more than 2 proposals for each
problem statement. 

 Each hostel must submit their Project proposals along with the
components list by 11:59 PM on 8th October 2017. 
  Only the BEST and FEASIBLE project proposals will be selected for each statement. 
 Selected project proposals will be notified by 10th October 2017. 

 No project proposals will be accepted after deadline. 

 Any of the Technical Board clubs will NOT provide any components required at any
point of time. 

 All teams will have to submit the intermediate report of their project
 demonstration by 11:59PM on 17th October 2017. 
 A video demonstrating the project and the final report has to be submitted by
26th October 2017. 

 All teams will have to demonstrate their final prototype and present it to the judges
on 28th October 2017. 

 Top 3 winning teams will be certificated by the Electronics club. 

 Any submission found same in idea or implementation to last year’s proposal
 submitted for Kriti or any of the club project will be disqualified. 
 The teams can cross verify their idea with Rahul Kumar so that it won't clash
with previous years' projects or ideas. 
Judging Criteria:
 On the day of demonstration, judges will rank each project based on Idea,
Implementation, Uniqueness, Application and Future scope.
 Project which secured 1st position will get 1000 points.
 Project which secured 2nd position will get 800 points. 
 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th ranks will get 600, 500, 400, 200, 150, 100, 50
and 50 points respectively.
 150 points for proper final documentation and video submission of each project. 
 These points are not Kriti points.
 Hostel wise rankings will be decided based on total points of their projects.
 In case of tie, hostel which has secured better project rank will be given priority. 

Guidelines for submission of project proposal:
 The proposal submitted for Kriti should not be submitted as an entry to any other
 contest. 
 Project proposal and abstract mentioning the components required and the
applications of the project, should be mailed to events.iitg@gmail.com only by the
 tech secy of the hostel before 11:59:59 PM of 8th October in pdf format only. 
 Each abstract must include the following: 
1. Statement ID
2. Name and Roll numbers of all the team member
3. Project idea and its Block Diagram
4. Components list
5. Applications

 PDF should be named as “<STATEMENT ID>-<HOSTEL>-<PROJECT TITLE>”.
 For example, "ID101-UMIAM-LE_AIR_BRAILLE" 
 Each team can have a maximum of four members. None of them should be present
 in other project of ELECTROVATE. 
 NO PROPOSAL WILL BE ACFCEPTED AFTER DEADLINE 

Any of the rules and the regulations may be changed/modified by the organizers at any
time and the same will be intimated and justified.
