Critical Incident Notification

System (CINS)
DU has implemented the Critical Incident Notification
System (CINS) through which we can communicate
urgent messages to you via text messages, automated
voice communication and e-mail. To enable this
system, you must inform us of your notification
preferences. You may identify a wireless device such
as a cell phone on which you can receive up to one text
message. If you have a wired “landline” on which you
wish to receive voice notifications, provide us with
that number and identify it as a landline. To sign up,
visit www.du.edu/risk/cins.html.

Active Shooter Training

Tragedies such as the recent shootings at Northern
Illinois University and Virginia Tech are a sobering
reminder that we should all be prepared in case
the unthinkable should happen to members of our
community or on the University of Denver campus.
For this reason, the chancellor, provost, senior staff
and members of the Administrative Council have
decided to provide training to students, faculty, and
staff that will prepare all to respond effectively in an
emergency situation involving an active shooter on
the DU campus. Safety is the concern of us all, so we
ask that you step forward and complete this training
as soon as possible. The training is available online
at: www.du.edu/campus-safety/active/player.html.
For additional active shooter information, contact
the Campus Safety Crime Prevention Officer at
303.871.3019 (1-3019).

Students of Concern
Students may display any number of warning
signs when they are in personal or academic
stress. The Students of Concern (SOC) Report is
facilitated by the Office of the Assistant Provost
and his/her designee. The confidentiality of the
report is based on the content of what is being
reported. Faculty, staff, parents and other students
who are concerned about a student or desire
consultation or assistance in making a referral are
encouraged to use the SOC reporting system as a
resource. The SOC Report is available online at:
www.du.edu/studentlife/concern.
