MEETING MINUTES: 2ND MEETING SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2018

CALL TO ORDER
A meeting of members was held on September 6th, 2018 at Central Office: 12755 Brookhurst St, suite 115 & 116, Garden Grove, CA
92840. The meeting began at 7:45 PM and was presided over by Khoi Vo, with Thy Huynh as secretary.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES


The minutes of the first meeting was unanimously approved.

AGENDA
MID AUTUMN 2018 PROJECT REPORT
DISCUSSION: presented by Mr. Khoi Vo. Activities in preparation for Mid- Autumn Project 2018.
1. Mr. Khoi Vo stated the dates of the event:
a. After discussing and meeting with the two principals of Zeyen Elementary School and Gilbert Elementary School,
the Mid Autumn 2018 will take place at:
i. Zeyen Elementary School, corner of Magnolia and Chapman, 12081 Magnolia St, Garden Grove,
CA 92841. The time and date are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018.
ii. Gilbert Elementary School, corner of Gilbert and Orangewood, 9551 Orangewood Ave, Garden
Grove, CA 92841. The time and date are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 24th, 2018.
b. The attendees acknowledge Mr. Vo’s report on the two dates.
c. The two schools will provide 200 chairs on each day, and we can come to set up the decoration approximately
4:30 PM.
d. Mr. Vo also emphasized the importance of these events, as there have never been such cultural events at these
locations. It will help us bring the community together and share the diversity of culture at these locations,
especially in the city of Garden Grove.
2. Mr. Khoi Vo stated the donations received/agreed to donate until today:
a. 200 Bong Lan Cakes from Long Phung Bakery, corner of Westminster and Magnolia, thanks to the work of Ms. Yen
Kim Huynh.
b. 10 boxes of PhacoPie cake from My Thuan Supermarket, corner of Westminster and Brookhurst, thanks to the works
of Mr. Vo.
c. $200.00 from Dr. Joe DoVinh.
d. Ms. SteveHien Shin from Interfaith Organization of Ten Thousand Crosses Emanated (IOTTCE) will provide cookies
baked from Cosco for approximated 600 kids.

3. After that, the board received donations from the following:


a. Ms. Caroline gave the donation of $50.00 from her father for the Mid- Autumn Project.
b. Mr. Khoi Pham also gave $50.00 donation to the Mid -Autumn Project.
c. Mr. Sau Dinh Le also gave $50.00 donation to the Mid – Autumn Project.
d. A total of $150.00 received on Sep, 5th, 2018.
4. Mr. Vo continued to state that he has paid $325.53 in advance for the cost of 500 lanterns and
showed the lantern to the board.
5. Ms. Hien Tran suggested whether we should provide dragon dances for the event. Ms. Kim Yen
Huynh will check on the cost and report back, then we will determine this.
6. Mr. Vo and the board appreciated the hard work of Ms. Kim Yen Huynh for bringing 140 lanterns
back during her vacation trip, which helped to reduce the costs of these lanterns extremely. The
approximate cost of these 140 lanterns was reduced from $700.00 to $70.00. The cost is paid by
Mr. Vo.
7. Ms. Caroline Seay ordered the 210 glow sticks to use with the lantern, at the cost of $48.79. The
cost was later deemed as a donation from the Seay family. The estimated pick up time is
September 11th, 2018. The pickup task is assigned to Ms. Caroline.
8. Mr. Nguyen Bao will report on the cost of the battery for led-lights with lanterns (the 140
lanterns).
9. Mr. Vo will send Ms. Le Giang a short introduction to the event so that Ms. Giang can provide it
to the newspaper.
10. Mr. Kelly Seay suggested putting out the information about the event and volunteer needed on
emails, websites, and social media. Mr. Vo will work on this and talk to the Technology
department to complete this.
11. The board also determined a date for the date to meet up and set up all the lanterns in advance,
on Monday, September 17th, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the office.
12. The boards also will continue to look for donations from other resources and will report at the
next meeting.
13. Mr. Vo will provide invitation letters to invite the community and elected officials to the event.
FINANCE REPORT
DISCUSSION: Mr. Chinh Van Phan report on this month finance for the rent.
ACTION:
1. The following donations were received today to be used for the monthly rental:
a. Ms. Huynh Thy: $20.00
b. Ms. Kim Yen Huynh: $20.00
c. Mr. Khoi Pham: $20.00
d. Mr. Long Nguyen: $20.00
e. Ms. Le Giang: $20.00
f. Mr. Sau Dinh Le: $20.00
g. Ms. Hien Thanh Tran: $20.00
h. A total of $140.00 was received today.
2. Other sources:
a. From the office sharing and conference room sharing: $1480 [ see the list attached]
b. Mr. Chinh Phan’s donation: $420.00
c. Law office: $500.00
d. Mr. Vo’s donation: approximately $700.00

ACTIVITIES REPORT
DISCUSSION: Mr. Vo provided a detail list of activities at the office daily:
ACTION:
1. The following activities occur weekly at the office for the community:
a. Monday’s night: community entertainment with Huong Viet group.
b. Wednesday’s night: Community meeting
c. Thursday’s afternoon: Community exercises dancing with the instruction of Master Vu.
d. Thursday’s night: community entertainment with Huong Viet group.
e. Friday’s night: community entertainment with Rudy’s group.
f. Saturday’s morning: community entertainment
g. Saturday’s afternoon: community entertainment
h. Saturday’s night: community entertainment with Viet Thang group
i. Sunday’s Morning: Breakfast with the community: FREE BREAKFAST AND COFFEE/TEA is provided to the
community. A place to gather and meet with friends and the community
j. Sunday’s afternoon: community entertainment with Chung Lan group
k. Sunday’s night: community entertainment.
2. Plans for the future workshop:
a. Mr. Khoi Pham will contact with OC Fair Housing and provide information workshop on Housing to the
Community. A date to be determined by Mr. Khoi Pham.

FUTURE AGENDA
Continuation of Mid-Autumn Project.
