Kohinoor Mills Gujar Khan Internship Report

Summary
To summarize contents of Internship report, the findings and conclusions of Internship period
are listed below:
Most often one will see squirrel cage rotor induction motor working as an
industrial solution of different machines. The reason behind is the robustness of these
motors. They are maintenance less because of absence of armature windings, instead
they have laminated core and skewed conductor for induction purposes.
Servo Motors are widely applicable in industry like Kohinoor because during
spinning many machines need a controlled motion of rotor shaft of motor which a
normal induction motor can not provide. Servomotors are revolution for industrial
use. DC servomotors need maintenance but provide easier and cheaper control. To
overcome that maintenance, AC synchronous type servomotors are suitable in an
industry to work best for a long period of time.
IM1 has two disadvantages, poor power factor and low efficiency. For improvement of
the performances, by adding permanent magnet to the IM design result in DRPMIM2 .
The permanent magnet can be added inside cage rotor to improve flux linkages, which
results in following advancements in Induction motor.
 PM rotor3 plays a positive role in improving the power factor of the
DRPMIM. Reactive power of DRPMIM needed from electric network is
lower than that of IM.
 High starting torque can be achieved by DRPMIM
 The torque of the inner PM rotor torque is generated, which mainly is used to
overcome the friction on the rotor shaft.
 Amplitude of the magnetic line of DRPMIM is larger than that of IM. There
are free rotating magnets inside the cage rotor, which increase magnetic flux
linkage.
 Stable speed of DRPMIM is slightly higher than that of the IM, and the
DRPMIM is more stable in the process of starting.
 During the initial time, more fluctuations in speed occur in PM rotor which
results in losses. But as motor reaches its steady-state those fluctuation
become negligibly small but still, are more than that of a normal IM.
 In DRPMIM, the PM rotor will provide a part of magnetic field, namely, the
stator current is not required to provide a larger magnetic field, so that the
stator current will be greatly reduced. The exciting current is small and low
loss, which is the greatest advantage of DRPMIM compared to usual IM.
