 Summary report

Introduction

This document intended to provide information & a summary report about the
completed work at BREGA’s data center located in Al-Nasr .St Tripoli.

Project Summary

The project aims to upgrade the firmware of the existing devices, cleanup dust in
the datacenter, cable management and load balance the power from UPSs.

Solution overview
The solution consists of four phases:
Phase 1
Will include cleanup dust in the data center for the three racks.

Phase 2
Will include cabling and labeling the network and power cables.

Phase 3
Will include load balance the power from the UPSs.

Phase 4
Will include upgrade the firmware for the hardware component.

Phase 1: Cleanup
The dust has been cleaned up using blower & other cleaning tools for each single device
mounted in the three racks, the cleaning was done from the inside and the outside. In addition
the racks and cables was cleaned. Cleaning the communication room was extra work which
included cleaning the cables, devices and the floor.

Phase 2: Cable management

The power and the network cables (UTP & fiber) has been organized and labeled in efficient
way so that each cable can be easy to track from end to end.
In addition the core switch has been mounted with the new rails provided from MST.

Phase 3: Power distribution

New UPS has been installed and the power has been redistributed from the existing UPSs to be
balanced between them.
 The two HP UPSs provides power only for the integrity servers.
 The three APC UPSs provides power for Blades and the middle rack.
Notes:
Each power cable has a label to declare it for easy tracking.
Two power supplies attached to each serve, taking power from different power sources for
redundancy.

Recommendations
MST team recommended the following:
 iLo license for the HPE ProLiant DL380 G9.
 Change the power cables from the two PDUs in the middle rack to a thicker ones.
 Change the power cable from the cabinet to the UPSs to thicker ones.
 Change the Cisco 3560x 10/100 switch to a new switch with 1G ports.
 Provide another firewall for redundancy.
 Replace the failure disk in EVA.
 Change the remote connection from telnet to SSH for security reason.


Out of scope
The list below declare the out of scope work that has been completed:
1. The UTP connection between the communication room and the data center has been
changed to fiber.
2. Additional configuration has done on the switches.
3. Raise the HPE enclosure and reorganize the cables again to fit a new place for the new
two UPSs.
4. Installing a new UPS.
5. Label the power cables under the floor and on the cabinet.
6. Unmount some devices after Mr.walid order to do it and remounted again after
Mr.adnan reorder the opposite.
7. Cleaned and reorganize the existing devices in communication room.
8. The issue with the failure UPS has been determined and it’s a hardware part that needs
to be replaced.
9. Install a monitoring tool on the virtual environment with free 100 sensor (PRTG).
