Document to Configure machines in Active Directory

1. Configure DNS entries in machines

Go to LAN Properties > Select TCP/IP Properties> Select Use the following DNS server addresses tab and
enter below mentioned IP Addresses

Preferred DNS Server – 10.1.7.253


Alternate DNS Server – 10.225.6.214
Third Entry – 10.1.6.55 (to be made by clicking on advance > DNS > add entry)

Please do not change any other details in TCP/IP Properties.

2. Firewall setting --------->>


Fire wall should be off on the machine as policies are not getting pushed on the machine if firewall is ON.
Go to Control panel> Open Windows Firewall > Click on Off Button
3. Services Settings
Go to Start> Click on Run > Type “Services.msc”
Upon clicking on ok tab windows services window will open.
Then, Select & double click on “Computer Browser” service

Perform the activity in browser properties as shown in below pictures.

Below services must be turn on and should be start with local account.
Select TCP/IP NetBios Helper services and follow the steps as shown in below pictures
Select “Workstation” services and follow the steps as shown in below pictures
Please check following security parameters: --

1. Security Patches must be applied on the desktop:- KB958644


2. SEP MR5 must be installed & updated with latest definitions (Also check the scan logs and make sure
no virus infection on the system before it join the domain)
3. There should be no sharing on the.

Take an existing profile backup :

1. Create a folder with AD migration in some other drive i.e. d:\ or e:\ and copy all his desktop items in
this folders
2. Please note down/remember the current user login ID and password i.e. administrator, guest, xyz
etc…

Once you have done with your profile backup then you can go head for joining the systems into
the hbctxdom.com domain.

How to Add System into the Domain –

1. Right Click on My Computer >select “Properties” > select “Computer Name” >select “change” and
you will get below screen

Now Select domain and type “hbctxdom.com” it will prompt your for the username and password.

Please use following username –

User name - fmhsldesktop


Password – hdfcsec@111
Do not try more than 2 bad attempts otherwise ID will be locked then press OK
Once you press Ok you will get message displayed in below picture
1. Restart the machine and login with fmhsldesktop ID and password.

2. Post login click on start > run > type “compmgmt.msc” and press ok.

3. Click on users & Groups tab > Groups > click on administrators and add fmhsldesktop in the local
Administrators group of the system.

4. Then Double Click on My Computer > Right Click on “C Drive” > Go to Properties > Click on
“Security tab” > Click on add > add the users AD ID by using fmhsldesktop ID and password
5. Give full control permission and apply the changes in the machines
6. Follow step no 4 & 5 for all below folders
C: Drive
D:Drive
E: Dirve
Program Files
Lotus
Matrix Trader Workstation
IPO Admin / IPO / IPOT
Admin

Now,

7. Restart the machine and login with original users ID and password.
Contact centralized team for getting the users ID and password for individual users
8. Please restore the user’s data to the original location which you have copied in some other folders in
another drive before this activity.
9. Step no 8 will restore users original desktop with all applications shortcuts
10. Before we test the applications please “run the registry file” by double clicking on it which you have
received from the centralized helpdesk. If not please ask for the registry file.
11. Ask user to test the applications and take the sign off

Please note down the computer name of all the migrated systems and share the same with centralized team.
