Malaysia is a beautiful and peaceful country that promises you

stability that is enduring and meaningful. The multiculturalism
that is distinct to Malaysia has also made it home to several
colourful festivals which are celebrated grandly throughout the
year.

IN UPM
Known for their warm and friendly nature, Malaysians will
make your stay with them and share their lives together, an
experience that you will cherish forever. Despite being a rapidly
developing nation, Malaysia maintains a wonderful cultural
balance between modern living and long entrenched traditions,
even in a bustling metropolis like Kuala Lumpur. The country’s
towering modern skyscrapers distinctly contrast with the quaint,
traditional wooden houses built on stilts that are found in the
numerous villages, located in the rural areas across the country.
Experience the best of both worlds when you choose to pursue
your education in this enchanting and exotic country of more
than 30 million people

The country experiences a tropical climate with year round

temperatures ranging from 21ºC (70ºF) to 32ºC (90ºF). Bahasa
Melayu or Malay is the national language, but English is widely
spoken by almost all Malaysians. A fast developing nation,
Malaysia has some of the best infrastructure facilities in Asia
including ultra-modern airports, huge seaports and multi-lane
highways and intercity rail service to provide easy connectivity
and access. It is also blessed with a vibrant economy that has
made the country an industrial and commercial powerhouse in
South-East Asia.

The busy cities and idyllic villages, combined with the miles of
beautiful beaches, emerald islands and verdant forests teeming
with myriads of fauna and flora, altogether make the country a
learning experience in itself that is unmatched anywhere.

Malaysia is currently ranked as the world’s 11th most preferred 2013/14 & 2015/16
study destination by UNESCO. With more than 30 years of
experience in international education, and with close to 100,000
international students currently studying in Malaysia, education
in Malaysia is taken seriously by its government which has a
vision to turn the country into a high quality educational hub
for international students. The country’s Ministry of Higher

PARAM WAZED SIKDER

I like UPM for the same reason I like Malaysia.

In this country, I have noticed a perfect blend of
nature and technology. It’s a developed country
but it doesn’t lack greenery. Nature and technology
live harmoniously side by side in perfect balance.
UPM is an ideal example of my statement, and a
perfect representation of Malaysia. Here one can
find students of different ethnicity and different
nationalities studying together and interacting with
each other; using the new technologies and very
up to date with the latest trends and discovery
of the world. They are nurtured and their horizon
on broaden by the vast greenery that surrounded
them. Besides, it’s motivating students to be the
best versions of themselves. I love Malaysia and
as the extension of that feeling, I love UPM.

Program Director : Professional Learning Mobility Program 2016
Country Of Mobility
Program : Perth, Western Australia

This programme gave a huge impact to me and my friends. For me, I think it has been
a really precious opportunity to gain a great experience and knowledge about the norms
and values that determines the economic and social fabric of the country.

There were several local universities that we had visited, including Murdoch University,
University of Western Australia, Edith Cowan University and Curtin University. Through this
visits, we could interact with some students and staff of the universities, and got to know
the students’ social life. At the same time, we also learned about the education system
and curriculum in the said universities.

It is not easy to interact with certain parties especially if they are from overseas, but it
was a major challenge for me as a director of the programme and I considered it as
my biggest challenge. Through this programme I was able to develop my soft skills,
especially in terms of communication and critical thinking skills.

This international immersion has enabled me to boost my self-confidence tremendously

as I found myself making conversations with total strangers effortlessly and learned
and shared hopes and aspirations. I would encourage other students to take-up this
opportunity to participate in this mobility programmes so that are able to widen their
international perspectives and knowledge and deepen their understanding and knowledge
about the world around them.
