About the Seminar:
Organised by Dewan University and Institute of Maritime Affairs-Bahria University, this unique
maritime seminar will focus on Gwadar and its role in driving global trade. The seminar will
look at how global trends and increased connectivity can enhance the port city processes and
how business solutions can transform regional economies by maximising efficiency of port of
Gwadar. The streamlining of shipping and port operations to the lasting benefit of the investors,
importers and exporters will also be focused. As a collaboration between SBB Dewan University
and Pakistan Navy, this high-level forum is designed to spark lively themes among key port,
shipper and supply chain leaders.
The seminar will provide an international forum for industries and businesses in the industry,
government, military, and academia to address recent research in trends and to present and
discuss their research, ideas, technologies, systems, tools and experiences in all theoretical and
practical issues arising in the global maritime economy with special focus on current shipping,
ports, city future and administration issues of Gwadar as next generation port city. The seminar is
scheduled to be held on 10th October 2018 at Serena Hotel Islamabad, on the theme of
“Pakistan’s Maritime Economic Vision 2025 - Investment Opportunities and Challenges for
Gwadar as Economic Gateway”. The event will be graced by Chief of Naval Staff and
President of Pakistan as chief guest and guest of honour. Diplomats and ambassadors from
various countries like China, UK, Germany are specially invited along with the valued presence
and participation of industry heads, international maritime experts, economists and
academicians.
