This case report describes the orthodontic treatment and retention of na adult with severe
Class II Division 1 deep overbite malocclusion; treatment was completed without premolar
extractions. We used improved superelastic nickel-titanium alloy wire (L&H Titan, Tokyo,
Japan) with J-hook headgear for the combined intrusion of the anterior segment and the
distalization of the maxillary posterior segments. The overbite was corrected from 6.0 to 2.0
mm by instrusion of the maxillary and mandibular incisors; the overjet was corrected from
13.0 to 2.0 mm. Although no premolars were extracted, good occlusion and facial esthetics
were achieved. Follow-up records 2 years after active treatment show that the results were

Conclusions

This article demonstrates a nonextration treatment approach for severe Class II

Division 1 malocclusion in a nongrowing patient with the ISW combined with the J-hook. By
applying simple treatment mechanics with 1 wire, the occlusion and the profile were
effectively improved with high postretention stability.

Este relatório do caso descreve o tratamento ortodôntico e retenção de adultos com graves nd Classe II
Divisão 1 de Angle sobremordida profunda, o tratamento foi concluído sem extrações de pré-molar. Nós
usamos melhor fio da liga de níquel-titânio superelástico (L & H Titan, Tóquio, Japão) com J-hook chapelaria
para a intrusão combinada do segmento anterior a distalização dos segmentos posteriores da maxila. O
overbite foi corrigido de 6,0-2,0 mm por extração dos incisivos superiores e inferiores, o overjet foi corrigido
13,0-2,0 mm. Apesar de não pré-molares foram extraídos, boa oclusão e estética facial foram alcançadas.
Follow-Up Records 2 anos após o tratamento ativo mostrar que os resultados foram mantidos. (Am J

Conclusões

Este artigo demonstra um método de tratamento para nonextration grave Classe II Divisão 1 de Angle em
paciente nongrowing com o IFO combinado com o gancho J. Através da aplicação mecânica de tratamento
simples, com 1 fio, a oclusão e perfil foram efetivamente melhorou com a estabilidade pós-contenção alta.
