ARCHITECTURAL INTERNSHIP II REPORT

During the course of 25 days doing On-the-Job Training in DATEM Incorporated, I experienced variety of work done
in the field of construction supervision. DATEM Incorporated is a construction company in they involved in the
development and application of design and construction methods. With their specialization, I gained knowledge on
various procedures done inside the field office. I was assigned at Pioneer Woodlands Tower 4, a high rise
condominium and one of the projects of DATEM Incorporated in which the project was about 70% finished.

On the first day of my On-the-Job Training, I was assigned in QA/QC Department (Quality Assurance/Quality Control)
in which they hold the responsibility for the implementation, documentation, and execution of quality control on
project’s construction phases. They orient us about the flow of work in the field office and the safety inside the
construction site. During the first week, I was tasked to do an inspection about the application of waterproofing on
the building’s roof deck and pool deck, if the application of waterproofing was done right or if it needs some minor
alteration before the installation of architectural topping. I was also tasked on the inspection of ceiling and dry wall
installation, inspection about the application of sealant in the hallway, and monitoring of T&B tiles installation.
During the second week of my On-the-Job Training, they assigned us to do the as-built plan of 11th floor to 15th floor
of the tower 4 building. The 3rd week of the On-the-Job Training, I was tasked to inspect the tiles surrounding the
T&B fixtures if there was a crack or chipping in the tiles. Also, I was tasked about the inspection of utility room if the
alterations were done and the inspection of application of architectural sealant of every unit. The 4th week of my
On-the-Job Training, I was tasked to do punchlisting of the utility room of 5th floor to 6th floor and 10th floor to 15th
floor. Punchlist is a list of works that the contractor must complete and it includes incomplete or incorrect
installations or incidental damage to existing finishes, materials, or structures within the designated tolerance. I was
also tasked to do an update about the ceiling installation and an inspection of slab soffit for the preparation of
applying paint. The 5th week up to my last week of my On-the-Job Training, I was tasked to do an inspection of
verifying markings on the ceiling of kitchen for the installation exhaust duct and inspection of installation of floor
drain and cleanout for turn-over. I was also tasked to do punchlisting of every unit of 7th floor and 8th floor and
monitoring of tile works from 21st floor to 34th floor.

In the course of 25 days, I learned the difference of work flow inside the field office and the work flow inside the
office focusing in design. I observed that in the construction field you should have a strong personality and
communication skills that is clear and effective so that skilled workers will perform to best of their abilities. Same as
in the field of design, great communication skills is a must have of an architect due to meeting with clients. Also due
to exposing in the field of construction supervision, I learned the process of constructing a building and different
methods that applied to it.
