Present your research using the following structure:
● Slide One Introduce the tradition, explaining where it originated and anything that
influenced its development.

● Slide Two The key features of the tradition, including its purpose (e.g. to inform,
educate, entertain)

● Slide Three Three interesting facts about the tradition and one link to another
storytelling tradition, e.g. ‘Chinese Shadow Puppetry is similar to Wayang Kulit …
because.... ‘

● Slide Four How your research has inspired you and how you can use one element of
the art form in your own work.

● Slide Five Bibliography (this must include any images that you have used as well as
all other sources.)

Task Two: Performance and Process Bi, Bii, Ci

For this assessment you will work as a group to develop your own two
minute performance based on a given story from a world culture. You will
need to use a range of storytelling skills, acting techniques and use lots of
creative thinking to help you create an entertaining and exciting
performance.
As well as the final performance you will need to submit a digital process
journal which includes:
● Three photographs taken during different lessons that show you
experimenting with and developing a new performance skill e.g.
puppetry or physical theatre. Each photograph must be annotated to
explain what you are doing and why.
● Two process journal entries written during the devising process that
explain key moments in devising your performance, e.g. lightbulb
moments, creative problem solving, decision making moments etc.
These should focus on you as an individual as much as possible
● A group statement of artistic intention, explaining the impact you
want your piece to have on the audience, the purpose of your
performance and any understandings you want the audience to leave
with. You will be given guiding questions to help you.

Formative Assessment Task: Responding (Diii)

You will submit an evaluation in two parts. In section one you will reflect on
your own performance work. In section two you will evaluate the
performance work of one other group. You will be given guiding questions to
help you.

minute) ● Text (one side of A4) ● Annotated images/photographs (4 image

“The Old Man and The Old Moon.” PigPen Theatre Co., www.pigpentheatre.com/the-old-man-and-the-old-moon/.

Imagine you are a director with a budget of 5,000 Eur! How would you stage
ONE of these stories….Would you use puppets for example? Or have a
narrator? Would there be singing/dancing? How many actors would you
need? Where would it be performed? What costumes would the actors
wear? What set and props would there be? Would there be any special
effects? What mood would you want to create? How could you use your
research into Rakugo/Griot or Chinese Shadow Theatre in your design
concept? Make sure you explain your choices; the why as well as the how.
Present a design portfolio, maximum 2 sides of A4, including images (cited!) and sketches
as well as text.
