JOB TITLE: Quality Control Officer

RESPONSIBILE TO: Area Engineer/ Technical supervisor and Water Quality

Regional Head (WQRH):

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Quality Control Technician / Source – Borehole

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

In charge of process control of water/wastewater treatment facilities as well as water quality

monitoring of the water supply network to ensure compliance to National Standards in the Area
assigned below. The staff will be based in the Assigned Area where daily quality control is required
but will ensure that they visit the nearby branches or Towns for water quality monitoring and
control at least once in two weeks for each Area. (These additional branches will be detailed latter,
they differ for each Area)

LIAISES WITH THE FOLLOWING STAFF:

 Plant operators 2. Shift overseers 3. Plumbers

Key Result Areas

a) Determines the required chemical doses and ensures proper routine mixing and dosing of
the required chemicals at the water treatment plant
b) Records chemical usage and water quality at the treatment plant/units
c) Implement the cleaning and maintenance schedules at the treatment plant and water
distribution network.
 d) Perform routine water and wastewater sampling in assigned Areas/sampling points and
testing using the standard operating procedures.
e) Establish and update Sampling points
f) Georeference Sampling points
g) Implement Water Safety Plans
h) Submit weekly and monthly and quarterly reports on chemical usage and water quality
results to the WQRH
i) Monthly delivery of samples to the regional laboratory
j) Ensure good ambience of the laboratory and adhere to good laboratory practices
k) Support the WQRH during water quality audits of the assigned Areas.
l) Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

Minimum Academic Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in
Chemistry/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Food/Environmental Science or Engineering. From a
recognized University.

Experience in water process control will be an added advantage

Working Experience
A minimum of one (1) year post qualification experience in analytical laboratory and Industry
