Characteristics Application and construction

• The only standardized portable instrument with
which static indentation hardness tests up
to 29420 N (= 3 t), according to Brinell, can be
conducted.
• Hardness tests on materials and components are
possible outside of the laboratory (metal stocks,
complete machinery, heavy components made
from metal etc).

A convenient, portable instrument is required for
conducting standardized Brinell tests in metal storage
areas as well as for checking the hardness of heavy or
inaccessible parts.
The hardness values determined with this instrument
correspond to those carried out on the conventional
stationary Brinell hardness testers. They are not only
comparison values, they are hardness values according
to Brinell.
The C-Clamp hardness tester consists of a steel frame
for receiving and measuring the loads, and a force
producing mechanism, which can be adjusted to act in
opposite directions. The relatively high amount of frame
deformation is transferred to a precision measuring
instrument and constitutes an index of the applied load.
The test force ist produced by turning a handcrank with
the aid of a gearing transmission.
The unit will be delivered with interchangeable hard-
metal balls of 10 and 5 mm diameter.
The ball indentation is measured by the aid of an
microscope M4, amplification 20:1, hardness reading
units 0.1 mm, easy assessing of intermediate values.
