School history and community
Centro Escolar El Roble is a private, nonprofit, bilingual, boys only, day school located in Gua-
temala City. Founded in 1970 the school has grown to over 700 students and has graduated
its first senior class in 1977. Our students are people of integrity who:

• Have received a well-rounded academic experience


• Have formed a strong Catholic identity and Catholic values
• Are ready to go out and serve their families, communities and society

School Calendar
El Roble´s school year begins in January and ends in mid-October.
It consists of 198 school days organized into four quarters and it observes local Guatemalan
holidays and schedules recesses in Easter, mid-June, and early autumn.
The school day is divided into six 60-minute periods and one 50-minute study hall period.

Graduation requirements and curriculum


• Students follow a common core, university preparatory bilingual curriculum as
Administration: mandated by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education.
• 9th & 10th grade students (14-16 year-olds) take an average of 13 courses per
year.
• 11th & 12th grade students (16-18 year-olds) complete the two-year International-
General Director
Baccalaureate programme, in addition to local requirements.
