Dietrich industries Big “D” Curtain Wail/Light Gage Framing
Systems offers the most diverse product line available in the
industry today. The flexibility to choose from our wide selection
of gages, yield strengths (KSIs), sizes and flange widths enables
the designer to obtain optimal performance as economically as
possible. Technical Services is equipped with a unique computer
design aid which will select, analyze, and provide critical compari-
sons using required design criteria to select the most economical
sections from our Big “‘D” Metal Framing Product line.
The lightweight cold formed steel members described in this
catalog can be assembled in various combinations to provide
framing systems for curtain walls, axial loaded wails, floors and
roof systems. C studs and joists can be used for load bearing or
conventional curtain wail applications. They are easily insulated
for high energy conservation while providing non-combustible
support for fire rated construction. Light gage metal framing
offers a wide range of lintels for doors, windows, and other
openings. Big “D” metal framing products are highly suited to
prefabricated panel construction which provides additional
economy in today’s highly competitive construction industry.
Dietrich industries’ structural product line consists of six
(6) basic C stud configurations. The CWN, CSJ, CSW, CSE,
CSS and CSX sections are outlined on the following pages.
They are manufactured from galvanized steel cold formed into
combinations of:
l web sizes ranging from 2-112” to 16
l equal flanges of l-318’: 1 -S/8”, 2: 2-l/2’: 3” and 3-i/2
* returns (lips) of 318’: 1129 518” and 1”
l 33 and 50 KSt yield strengths
l 20,18,16,14,12 and 10 gage
Track and Accessory items are also available for use with
Curtain Wait and Light Gage Structural Framing Systems.
Structural Track (TSB) is available in:
* web sizes ranging from 2-t/2” to 16
* standard leg heights of l-114” (unequal and equal leg heights
up to 3” are avaitabte upon request)
l standard 10’ lengths (other lengths are avaitabte upon request)
l 33 and 50 KSI yield strength (33 KSI is standard)
l 20,18,16,14,12 and 10 gage
Slip Track can be produced to a maximum length of 12’ in
20, 18, 16,14,12 and 10 gage; and in any width.
Other sizes and gages can be custom rolled as required.

The ensuing pages of this brochure contain the Physical
Structural Properties Wind Loads, Axial Loads, and Joist Load
Tables of the C studs produced by Dietrich industries. They are
provided for your review and comparisons. This data has been
developed under the design provisions set by the 1986 A.I.S.I.
Code with 1989 amendment requirements. it is important to
note that we have developed this information to include mechan-
ical bracing. Because we do not manufacture sheathing prod-
ucts, we cannot warrant them. As sheathing products could at
some point or another be removed from the wall or become
structurally ineffective, we suggest that mechanical bracing
for lateral rigidity be installed at all times. tnformation about
composite action properties with regard to gypsum or other
sheathing products should be obtained from the manufacturer.
